Most recently, Steven was journalist-in-residence at the Berlin Social Science Center (WZB), and also a former senior fellow with the New America Foundation and the 2016 Holtzbrinck fellow at the American Academy in Berlin. Mr. Hill is a frequent speaker at academic, government, NGO and business events, speaking on a wide range of topics related to politics, economics, global complexity, the digital economy, future of work and artificial intelligence, among others.
Steven will talk about his recent books regarding the gig economy and Big Tech, and discuss the impact of the recent passage of California Assembly Bill AB5 (which forces companies to treat their “independent contractors,” such as Uber/Lyft drivers, as regular employees). He will offer potential solutions for how to “disrupt the disruptors,” to ensure that workers and society benefit from digital technologies and innovation.
