PhD scholarship – “Cosmopolitan development: the impact of international volunteering”

$ 25,000 per year (3 years max)

Applications are invited for one PhD scholarship that will complement the research of Associate Professor Susanne Schech's ARC Linkage Project within the organisation at Flinders University.
The ARC project will examine how international volunteering contributes to the relationships between Australia and its partner countries, and how it transforms the ways volunteers and host organisations perceive and respond to global challenges. The research team will conduct theoretically informed empirical research on development volunteering across several countries in Asia and the Pacific.
While the successful candidate will have scope to define a relevant research topic it is envisaged that the scholarships may explore gender or cultural diversity issues in international volunteering.

BENEFITS
The scholarship will be awarded for a maximum of three years. The annual stipend is $25,000 (tax free). Additional funding is available for international fieldwork.

ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible for the award of this scholarship a student must:
• be enrolled, or be seeking to enrol, as a full-time student in a research higher degree at Flinders University
• have completed a Bachelor degree with Second Class (Division A) Honours or above, or an equivalent level of academic attainment
This scholarship will only be offered to international students who can demonstrate that tuition fees have been, or are being paid, by another agency.
Other general conditions of the award will be as per current conditions of award for Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) Scholarships.

APPLICATION
All applicants are advised to contact the research co-ordinator, Associate Professor Susanne Schech, to discuss the position by phone on +61 8 8201 2489 or by email to Susanne...@flinders.edu.au before submitting an application form.
