Forthat matter, any of the actual wrestling in WWE 2K16 is not very good. While wrestling on TV seems fast and frantic, the game version of it seems to plod along at a methodical pace. While there are moments of cool looking signature moves, the game instead tries to find new mechanics that only seem to be in place to frustrate the player. Counters have an obtuse window that is far too quick to be reactive, a pin system that can be frustrating when it shows up, but worst of all might be the submission system meter. With this, you have a blue half circle and a red quarter circle. As the person inflicting the hold, you are trying to use your blue have to cover the red quarter, and vice versa for the person trying to escape the hold. Either way, when this comes up on the screen, it inevitably ends up with the human player losing to the computer as it is far too unwieldy to control your way to success.
A very nice addition this year is a full suite of creation tools in the Custom Creations area. Now you can create full showcase events, arenas, entrances and so much more. And unlike 2K15, WWE 2K16 has a full create a wrestler toolkit, with a host of customizable options allowing players to create truly unique creations. During my review time, I probably spent the most time here due to the dearth of options that you have at your disposal for creating things.
You can take a lot of these custom creations into the MyCareer mode, a now staple in the 2K Sports line of sports titles. Here, you start as a lowly wrestler having to earn your chops up the ladder to WWE Superstardom and I will say that the career mode is pretty well featured. That said, you constantly seem to be left behind the curve at the beginning, wrestling opponents that are far better than you and your losses will mount up at the start of your career as you earn your upgrades and skill points to your wrestler. Also, why is it in 2015 that I cannot have a career mode starring a Diva? WWE 2K16 offers a huge creation suite for the Divas, but then does not let me build a career with them.
Yes, the game has a ton of wrestlers, but that does not mean they are all created equally and that is apparent when you start viewing some. While the big headliners of today are created to near photo realistic quality, a lot of this historical or retired wrestlers do not get the same authentic treatment. I mean, I had Ms. Elizabeth as a manager for an opponent, and while her show card is a photo image of her, the in-game recreation looked like a car tire had mangled her face. Come on, 2K Sports, it cannot be that hard to go back to historic footage to make some more precise models. You have access to all this archive footage, so pay more respect to these classic wrestlers with better character models.
WWE 2K16 offers up a better wrestling product than its previous entry, but that does not make it a better game for fans of the series. The custom creation tools give you far more control over the game in that sense, but the thing that you are here for (wrestling), is not very good. The mat experience is sluggish and still has not learned that rock, paper, scissors does not make for a fun grapple experience. You have a step in the right direction, and creation nuts will find lots to enjoy, but WWE 2K16 still needs a lot of assists to make it a top tier entertainment title.
Family Focus
WWE 2K16 offers up a wrestling experience that is very similar to the product you see on TV. There is some colorful language, slightly sexy outfits and other frills. Funny thing is that the in-the-ring wrestling is probably the tamest thing you will find in this title. If you let your kids watch the weekly WWE product on TV, you are probably safe with them playing WWE 2K16. Otherwise, figure those in their early teens and up should be fine with this one.
Obviously this too-real aesthetic is shattered from time to time with odd animations or stutters that remind the player that this is actually a video game, but for the casual passerby it would be easy to be convinced that this was an actual NBA broadcast rather than a digital sporting simulation.
In a much expanded career mode, NBA 2K16 starts you out as the star player on your high school basketball team, getting wooed by college coaches. From there, you get to play a year in college before entering the NBA draft.
Once the Spike Lee section was over, the career mode is actually a whole lot of fun, letting players figure out how to spend their off-days; a day spent training with your team might improve your balling skills for the next game, but you miss out on an opportunity to get more fans by going to events, or earning more upgrade currency by making your sponsors happy.
Beyond the career mode, there is actually a lot to experience in NBA 2K16. You can earn street cred by playing against others in the My Park, take on the role of a general manager as you create a team and lead them to glory, or even take part in the weird trading card game that still utterly baffles me.
Worst of all,the difference between offline and online play is that online play included more instructions and tutorial elements. No, not on gameplay, but at least to explain the various areas and what you could get up to in career mode, etc.
Why was that left out when you played the game offline? Of course playing online also allows you to buy and spend real money on all sorts of boosts and upgrades to make your player less of a flailing idiot at the start of the season.
I appreciate what they were trying to do, but they should have looked at what made fight night champion work. The story was built around the fighting, so that each fight felt exciting and had weight. This just feels like playing some basketball in between a cheesy spike Lee movie. ?
Can we have a proper reviewer instead of someone belongs to the kitchen writing this piece of crap, this is the best sports sim game since 2K11, cheesers will bash it for sure but true basketball fans will appreciate what 2K has accomplished in just one year.
regardless of that, this woman doesnt know how to review the game. She skimmed over most of the game modes (mentioned them in passing) and only talked about the career mode. Not everyone is buying the game for that cheesy stuff. No mention of the gameplay improvements or mode specific stuff like trade logic. This is not a proper review.
The GUI is also jacked up and difficult to navigate. They made it counterintuitive, which was cumbersome and frequently had me moving out of sections I wanted to navigate because they decided to print the options at an angle that made me tilt my head to read them.
Sure, MyLeague is better and there are more options, but it still fails at basic thing custom roster creation and copying players from a legend roster to the free agent pool, or even viewing those rosters in a list.
There are glitches and some missed animation sequences and early, hard audio cuts that cause problems with the experience. The UX is counterintuitive and difficult to get used to. Trying to outfit your player forces you to clumsily navigate through a store and multiple submenus that are non specific and confusing.
The core game has always been the asset, but the entire presentation of that asset to the end user failed. It had a lot of potential but ended up being derivative and cliched. This is why the game doesnt deserve 5 stars this year.
Spot on accurate with this review. Keep it up! Most other places surgar coated the fact that everything related to customizing your MyPLAYER has been down for days. Gameplay its a good game but the servers and crummy story hold it back
These comments are insane. This woman gave her opinion on the game. And most of you are criticizing her on her opinion of the game. If you care so much why not write your own review. Yes most games have a white male protagonist, but in recent years there have been many games with others races taking the lead role. I am a man of color and i enjoy video games. Thank you so much for your review.
No im defending her opinion. And I do not really understand what else you are trying to say but that is neither here nor there. The review itself I do not agree with but I do agree with people bashing her opinion. I can understand where she is coming from slightly. I am a 22 year old African American male and I Have nothing in common with the protagonist.
When it comes to WWE 2K16, every fix comes with new problems. Niggling issues plague the title, with fresh positive changes being soured by their implementation. Career mode in particular has yet to achieve its potential. However, on the whole WWE 2K16 is an undeniable improvement over its predecessor. I remain hopeful future instalments will continue to improve and release on the PC platform.

I have been reading the forums and checking online for the differences between 2k16 on the 360 and Xbox One, but I can not find a definitive answer. Indeed some users complain they rather keep the last gen game!
Custom Logos work as follows: You no longer make them in game. Instead you can make them on your computer using whichever software you prefer (photoshop, gimp, ms paint, whatever). Then you upload them through a site and download them to your console.
The problem with artwork on caws refers to an issue i've dubbed the "stretch/fade" issue. It's an unfortunately huge pain in the ass, but it is managable if you're smart. It needs to go though, big time.
As for a "review" i'll simply say that it is my opinion (and I say opinion here, not representing fact) that the gameplay improvements, so long as you're looking for a more simulation experience and less arcadey experience, are well worth the losses. The graphics may not be mindblowing compared to other games, but they are far above what we got on the last gen.
