Prof. McGill is a 9-time West Virginia Sportswriter of the Year by the National Sports Media Association who has also helped contribute -- on and off camera -- to the Emmy-winning ESPN documentary "Rand University." Prof. McGill is the former sports editor at The Northern Virginia Daily, Charleston Daily Mail and Charleston Gazette-Mail. After he left the newspaper business, Prof. McGill was hired as the Assistant Athletic Director for Fan Engagement and Communications at Marshall University. While at Marshall, Prof. McGill helped create Thundering Herd Illustrated, the Official Athletics publication of Marshall University. Later, he was elevated to Associate Director of Athletics for External Engagement and Fan Experience, in which he had oversight of the department's marketing, social media, digital streaming, graphic design and website. For the past year, Prof. McGill has worked as a proposal writer at ASRC Federal. Prof. McGill works from home so he can spend as much time as possible with his lovely wife, Lauren, who is a newspaper editor, and their soccer-obsessed son, Gunnar.

Really, ever since I can remember. I always knew I wanted to do something where I used my artistic strengths and skills. My mom said during my childhood, I took a writing utensil to just about everything in the house, even the insides of lamp shades. I took a lot of art and digital design classes in high school which led to studying design in college.

My day to day duties involve creating print graphics, social media/digital graphics, and designing websites for our clients. I also get to create brand identities for our new clients that come to us for logos and a visual identity, which is challenging and fun!

As a native New Yorker born and raised in Brooklyn, John has been a leader in the New York studio since its inception in 2016. He had also previously been a designer in the San Francisco studio and brought that experience to bear on the creation of a studio culture in a new location.

A generalist at heart, John believes that delivering design excellence requires flexibility, creativity, and persistence. His approach to project management draws from his experience as a designer, keeping teams focused on how systems will come together three-dimensionally and making sure every consultant from the mechanical engineer to the graphic designer understands how their work fits into the wider whole. He believes the single most important aspect of any project is clear communication between parties (designers, builders, owners, and consultants), and that the architect must know when to intervene to make sure that intent will be met.

His work at WRNS Studio has extended across a wide range of project types and sizes, from large workplace and mixed-use developments to small interior interventions and planning studies. He also manages studio operations and staffing in New York, working closely with partners.

When used with consistency, logos and other graphic design elements can protect and strengthen a brand. The main purpose of the Visual Identity Guide is to help members of the McGill community collectively project a consistent image across a vast array of websites, printed documents, and branded collateral such as banners, signs, posters, and merchandise.

Wiley defines learning objects as "any digital resource that can be reused to support learning" (2000, p7). With that in mind, you will find tools for creating videos, podcasts, graphics, presentations, timelines, and e-books.

Various types of videos can be created: animated videos, interviews, screencasts, recordings of slide decks, recordings of live sessions, or live demonstrations, for example of students being guided through the research process. Consider universal design during video development, such as captions, transcripts, and audio descriptions.

Here are some tools to produce scheduled audio podcasts. Video podcasts (vodcasts) can also be made with the video production tools above. The iTunes store has largest selection of podcasts but Google also now supports podcasts in the Google Play store for Android. There is also Juice free software for listening to podcasts.

A Tale of Two Kiddies Ok, full disclosure: I grew up on a block in Brooklyn during the 1950s. In the age before playdates, I was let out at the age of 5 to roam one side of the block between 4th and 5 avenues. (just for the record I have no issue with parents using playdates in a post-Etan
