I have an Alienware 17 R4. Recently, I noticed that in windows the computer was VERY slow, especially when I was hooking the laptop to my TV through an HDMI cable. Mind you when I say Windows, I mean browsing in Google Chrome.
I run a DXdiag and I found that the Intel 530 integrated graphics card's drivers were since 2016! I said no problem I will update my drivers. Indeed Intel has the newest version of their drivers released in just two weeks ago in January 16 2020 ( -Graphics-Windows-10-DCH-Drivers?product=88345 )
When you are trying to download said drivers though, Intel tells me "Your system runs a proprietary driver and you need to update it through the manufacturer. Alright, went to Dell's site and the Assistant software told me that the latest driver had been updated in 2019! Okay! not the latest version but still new!
On some PC's you need to get rid of the Dell Driver and do this manually then after that it will work. So go download the latest driver and then go to device manager and remove the driver and software and go straight after that and cut internet off then reboot. "If you don't disable internet Windows will install a driver for you" Now install your new driver. The driver needs to be in zip format and installed manually. After this you will be able to use Intel drivers but on some laptops this is not recommended. Maybe this helps you maybe it helps someone else so I just thought I would leave it here.
I'd love an explanation too. All I can think of is that if stability is Dell's goal instead of performance, they might want to exert some control of what the average user can do to potentially mess up their system. That could make sense for models aimed at businesses. But that doesn't make sense for an Alienware device.
I used to use the laptop for gaming about 2 years ago but stopped. Now I'm trying to get back into those same games and have found that they are incredibly slow - even with graphics at minimal. Some of the games tell me that my "graphics drivers are 597 days old" - which would match the date being shown as my driver date (5/19/2016). The problem is that when I go to intel to update my graphics driver, none of the ones I try (which I believe match my specifications) will successfully download because it tells me I don't "meet minimum requirements". When I try using the intel driver and support assistant, it tells me that there are no updates available. How can my graphics drivers be 597 days old with no updates available? Have intel stopped releasing graphics driver updates for my graphics card/processor?
I am resigned to the fact that I will probably have to purchase a new laptop in order to get a better gaming experience, but I just wanted to check whether I was missing anything obvious first. I'd appreciate any advice or assistance on whether I actually do have the most up to date graphics driver available to me or, if not, how I can go about installing one more up to date.
I have the same query and would like more info. My gaming manufacturer (Big Fish) after performing a diagnostics, directed me to an update for my Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1, Toshiba Portege that has the Intel (R) HD Graphics 3000 installed; Driver Date 7/13/2015, Version 9.17.104229. When I tried to make the recommended installation I received this error message: "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the win64_15.36344889.exe software." All devices I have checked say, "The device is working properly."
My real question is what, other than the graphics driver, would prevent my computer from downloading new games and not responding when clicking on a downloaded game. If the device is working properly, but is no longer supported by Intel, can that still be why I can no longer download and install these games?
As an aside, I ran this computer in Safe Mode and was able to open two games, Scrabble and Burger Shop 2. The former has no graphics to speak of. The latter has limited graphics. , Unfortunately, I do not know what to do with this information to fix the problem.
I have a 5 year old Inspiron laptop with the i3 2.40ghz 2370m processor and Intel HD 3000 graphics card. It NEVER made the list as being supported for Windows 10 by Dell or Intel. I UPGRADED ANYWAY to Windows 10 when it was released. I have had a great experience with only a few driver issues. Mostly during the first year W10 was released. Last few months I've been using a 4k HDR TV as my primary display w/HDMI. I noticed when I 1st connected it with the newer 2.0 HDMI cable the card read the resolutions it could use that my TV supports like wider xvYCC EXTENDED GAMUT. The result is a wider and deeper range of color overall.
TODAY I SUCCESSFULLY SET A CUSTOM RESOLUTION WITHIN THE INTEL GRAPHICS AND MEDIA CONTROL PANEL TO 3840X21260, REFRESH 30HZ, CVT-RB TIMING. I tried many different refresh rates but 30hz is highest the card accepted. I'll see over the next few weeks how the lower refresh affects viewing. I HOPE THIS HELPS OTHERS WHO MIGHT HAVE A SIMILAR SITUATION! I WAS THINKING OF GETTING A NEWER COMPUTER THAT SUPPORTS 4K BEFORE I TRIED THIS! THE DRIVER IS 9.17.10.4459

I have been trying to install the display drivers necessary for my HP Pavillion dv7-6163cl Entertainment Notebook. The laptop is supposed to switch between the Radeon HD 6770M graphics card and the Intel (R) HD Graphics family integrated graphics. When I tried to download the drivers from this support page though
It does not work! It says I don't meet the minimum requirements to install the intel driver (which is bogus because this is an hp laptop specifically designed with this intel integrated graphics) and when I install the AMD driver, the catalyst control center can't even detect my Radeon graphics card for some reason.
I have also tried installing an earlier version of the drivers from the support page as well just in case, but that didn't work. I also know my system is a 64 bit system and have tried both the 32 bit and 64 bit driver downloads to see if one of them would work. No success.
Thanks for the reply. This got the switchable graphics working...I think. For some reason I have FPS issues with some games weak games though. This might just be because the drivers are so old though.
PS - This started with wiping the computer back to factory image, doing Microsoft Update on Windows 7, and then having Norton Security with Backup cause a BSOD. Norton help disabled the Intel driver, set resolution to 800x600, successfully installed the Norton product, and then said to go back to HP for an Intel driver update...
I'm having an issue with my driver - I want to choose my NVIDIA card instead of intel card and it doesnt work. I've added the card on graphic settings and still - premiere do not recognise my NVIDIA drive.
Sorry, but the GPU selection does not work like you expected it to. That compatibility warning appears only if you have an outdated or otherwise issue-prone GPU driver installed - in this case, the Intel HD Graphics 4600 driver. Unfortunately, there are absolutely no major driver updates to that IGP since late 2015 (when the very first release of Windows 10 came out); only minor bug fixes (until 2018) and critical security fixes have been released in "newer" drivers for it. If you do not see a w

Worse, Intel had EOSL'd all CPUs older than the 6th-Generation CPUs just recently. The very last driver that was compatible with all 4th- and 5th-Generation CPUs was released this past February - and it, like all other recent driver versions for the 4th- and 5th-Generation GPUs, is merely a security-patched version of a driver that dated way back to 2017.
There is an issue with the video card driver.
We have detected the system is using an Intel driver not compatible with our application, which needs to be updated for use with Dimension.
You get this error when your system is using an outdated version of Intel driver with a known issue, which results in Dimension being unable to display graphics. Updating to the latest version of the video card driver released by Intel resolves this error.
For the past few years I've been using Amd Radeon HD 8570M (with AMD Radeon software adrenalin 2019 edition) and swithcable Intel(R) HD Graphics, without a problem. Yesterday I installed a new ADATA SU630 SSD. I installed all new windows updates, updates for Intel HD graphics and I installed new AMD Radeon software adrenalin 2019 edition. After installing the amd software, my amd graphics card got disabeled (code 43). After that I tried many solutions (uninstalling software, uninstalling device in Device manager, using apps like Driver Talent, using safe mode in windows). After all those attempts I still got nothing. Although it is interesting that when I have Amd software installed, on device manager says I have Amd Radeon R5 M200 / HD 8500M Series. But when i dont have Amd software and I have updates from windows, it says I have Amd Radeon HD 8570M and it is working properly. Also I would like to point out that on my old HDD my installed windows were mbr, now I have them installed on gpt (I dont know if that makes a difference for graphics card).
