The New York City Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) has implemented a pilot program allowing licensed E-hail providers to offer upfront pricing in all participating yellow and green taxicabs .In addition to metered fares, passengers riding in Medallion taxicabs and Street Hail Liveries (SHLs) will now have the option to receive binding fare quotes when completing an E-Hail request.
See below for a list of current participants:

Uniformed taxicab dispatchers are available to help passengers with any questions and to assist passengers with disabilities in selecting a wheelchair accessible taxicab. If a wheelchair accessible taxicab is not available within the dispatch system, an accessible taxicab will be requested. Passengers with disabilities are encouraged to contact the taxicab dispatch office 24 hours in advance at 703-417-4333 to make pre-arrangements to ensure these services are available when needed.

If you have a question or comment about your taxicab service, please forward the number of the taxi operator's permit with a copy of your receipt along with the relevant information and your day-time telephone number to:

You can buy scrip either by mail or in person at Metro's Customer Services Office in the King Street Center building. Most taxi companies accept taxi scrip, but you should always check when you call to request a cab. At the end of your taxi trip, you pay the driver the meter fare using taxi scrip instead of money. You do not need to use the scrip the same month you buy it; however, please note that unused scrip cannot be returned for a refund.

Some taxis are equipped with car seats so you can travel with small children. If you book a taxi in advance, you must inform the taxi company that you require a seat in the car. Small pets can travel at the discretion of the driver, although travelling with guide dogs is always permitted.

Madrid City Council makes the official application TXMAD (App Store / Google Play) available to travellers and professionals in the sector to provide information of interest on the Madrid taxi service.

There are various private taxi companies you can ring to order a taxi, although you need to bear in mind that the metre will be turned on as soon as the driver starts heading towards your location. There are also mobile apps available, however, that will only start charging you once you get into the taxi.

If you need an accessible taxicab, call taxi dispatch (310-646-9177). An accessible taxicab will be dispatched from the holding lot to the LAX Central Terminal Area nearest ACCESS location indicated by the DARK BLUE sign at terminal curbside. Service Animals are allowed in taxis at no extra charge.

The City of Laguna Hills' Senior Dial-A-Taxi Program is funded by OCTA (SMP and M2 Funds) and is designed to provide door-to-door taxi service to eligible Laguna Hills residents. The current cab operator is California Yellow Cab. Service is provided within Laguna Hills, Laguna Woods and Mission Viejo city limits ("Service Area") for shopping, recreational/social activities, personal business, and standard medical appointments. Please refer to the Program Guidelines and User Policies (PDF), for satellite destinations outside of the service area.

Most kayakers planning their own trip access the park via a water taxi or charter boat from Seward and get dropped off in Aialik Bay, Northwestern Lagoon or Bear Glacier Lagoon. Most water taxi operators can also assist in the drop off/pick up aspects of trip planning. While most commercial entities operating in the park are required to have a commercial use authorization (CUA), many water taxi services actually operate outside of park boundaries (i.e. below the mean high-tide line), so are not required to have a CUA.

The following water taxi services, operating out of Seward, provide access to many areas of the park or Resurrection Bay. This list is not comprehensive and is provided as a service to our visitors. Local businesses are welcome to email us to have their information added.

A taxi rank (or taxi stand, taxicab stand, etc.) is a place where taxis wait for passengers. Often found at airports, hotels, railway/bus/subway stations, large shopping centers or other places people congregate.

There are isolated cases around the world where boat taxis exist, like in Venice. These are on demand vehicles that are often based on a pier and can be hired from there like a normal taxi. Not to be confused with some other self-called "Taxi Boats" where there are several different passenger hopping on and cruising trough a fixed route, where ferry tagging more suitable is.

The Washoe Senior Ride (WSR) Taxi Bucks program is a subsidized taxi program of the Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) and is funded by the % of Washoe County sales tax allocated for public transportation. WSR provides alternative, reliable, and affordable transportation to Washoe County residents 60 years and older, RTC ACCESS clients (any age), and Washoe County Veterans (any age).

Each month WSR registered participants will receive a $60 taxi fare subsidy. Participants are issued an RTC WSR CardONE re-loadable card, which can be used to pay any part of a taxi fare. The taxi fare subsidy automatically loads each month for the duration of the program, and unused taxi fares do not roll over to the next month. This program and the subsidy are subject to available funding and may be changed or terminated by the RTC at any time.

All WSR trips must begin and end within the Washoe County boundary. Call the taxi companies directly to schedule your rides and only the participating taxi companies will accept the RTC WSR CardONE card to pay all or part of the fare. Please tell the dispatcher whether you use a wheelchair, scooter or other mobility device.

When using your RTC WSR CardONE card, you may use up to $60 in taxi fare value per trip for taxi fare payment. If your taxi fare is over $60, you must pay the additional fare by cash or credit card. When you get into the taxi, let the driver know you will pay with your RTC WSR CardONE card. If you do not inform the driver at the beginning of your trip, you must pay the full fare by cash or credit card. If your RTC WSR CardONE card does not have a picture, you must show the driver a government-issued photo ID card. The name on the identification card must match the name on the RTC WSR CardONE card.

At the end of the trip, the taxi driver will swipe your RTC WSR CardONE card to determine the total fare and give you a receipt showing the fare, the amount paid from your WSR account, any other amounts paid, and the balance remaining in your RTC WSR CardONE card. The taxi driver will then hand your RTC WSR CardONE card back to you along with the receipt.

If a driver refuses to accept your RTC WSR CardONE card or you have any other concerns with the driver or taxi service, you should file a formal complaint with the Nevada Transportation Authority at (775) 687-9790 or visit nta.nv.gov.

Taxicabs provide essential transportation services and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has released detailed recommendations to keep the industry moving safely. A taxi driver, who does not own the taxi, is generally considered an employee. However, workers' compensation is not required if the taxi driver leases the taxi from a person who personally and regularly operates the taxi (40 or more hours per week), the taxi driver is not an employee of the taxi owner unless the taxi owner controls the taxi driver (directs, supervises, or has the power to hire or fire).
