Greetings, Fellow Hashers!
The latest edition of World Hash Events reached my inbox last Friday afternoon, but I’m sharing it with you now in the afterglow of Saturday’s 692nd Tarheel Hash, hared by Big Box and Jerkules. Those of us lucky enough to attend had a wonderful time, and the trail was sensational. The neighborhood where the hares reside is in full transformation — older homes being refurbished, new structures rising, many of them of the mansion persuasion (starting at 1.5 million… any bidders?).
The elements were kinder that day compared to the day before — and certainly kinder than yesterday and today. With our increasingly unpredictable climate, temperatures everywhere seem to be in flux. All of this makes a fitting lead‑in to Hazukashii’s article on upcoming hashes in March, along with other noteworthy events happening across the globe.
In the News highlights several developments, including the growth of Park Runs in the UK (an offshoot of hashing) and Saudi Arabia’s recent alcohol‑policy reforms, which lift a 70‑year ban in hopes of attracting more tourism and diversifying the economy. A third story — especially inspiring — focuses on the Apia Hash House Harriers’ ongoing support of the Goshen Trust. For more than a decade, the Apia Hash House Harriers have dedicated their annual Perimeter Relay fundraiser to supporting the Goshen Trust, Samoa’s leading community‑based mental health organization. The Trust provides residential care, advocacy, and education for individuals and families navigating mental health challenges in a country where resources are limited. With no formal budget, the Trust relies heavily on donations, and Apia Hash’s contributions — now totaling over $200,000 tala — have helped sustain its services and raise public awareness. Their ongoing commitment is a powerful reminder of how hashing communities worldwide uplift the places they call home.
Upcoming hash events include several milestones: approximately 20 active kennels will celebrate their 50th run, and four others will reach their 2500th this year. One of these has just taken place over the past weekend in Nepal. Other REGOs opening this year include events in Turkey, Denmark, St. Kitts and Nevis (a two‑island nation in the Eastern Caribbean Sea), and Thailand.
The March calendar is especially full, with events in far‑flung places — some with wonderfully unfamiliar names — including Sweden, Finland, Bhutan, Czechia, Bahrain, and a cruise sailing from Doha, Qatar to Dubai, UAE. USA locations include Palm Springs, CA; Philadelphia, PA; Kirkwood, MO; Juneau, AK; Portland, OR; Ocean City, MD; and Umatilla, FL.
Gentle Reminder: Under the Hash History heading, check out Hazukashii’s recent opus, True Trail (How Hashing Migrated Around the World). Proceeds go toward the new Hash House in Kuala Lumpur.
For lighter entertainment, explore the links under More Wonders of the English Language to chuckle at the incongruities so many of us overlook.
Finally, Haz’s Thought for the Day fits his style: light, observational, a little mischievous, and rooted in the idea that hashers are keen observers of human behavior — especially the absurd bits.
Cheers and On‑On,
Lickety Spit

Greetings Hashers,
A new year has begun now, and the website https://GoToTheHash.net has been
online for 28 years. Many other websites have come and gone, but this one
still stands. It may look old and tired, but the information is always
fresh and ready to lead you to upcoming events, the history, and links to
all known hash clubs around the world. AND, best of all, it always has been
and always will be absolutely FREE!!!
------------------------------------
As the popularity of hashing grew in the 1970s, the footprint of clubs was

We are Four months away now . . . If you plan to attend INTERHASH 2026 in
Indonesia, you will have the opportunity to steer the future of this
fabulous event. Kenya is bidding to host, and if INTERHASH is truly to be an
international event, it finally needs to come to AFRICA. I feel so strongly
about this, that I have joined the Organizing Committee to support and
contribute to making this a reality. So when you get the chance to vote next
year, I encourage you to vote KENYA! It's time for Interhash to go to
Africa.

Saudi Arabia recruits bartenders amid alcohol policy reforms.

Park Runs are a popular activity in the UK, and another offshoot of the old original Hare & Hounds, the same as the HHH. I also see that the fastest time was recorded by a member of the Thames Hare & Hounds, which brings it all back together.
Hash Harriers continue 10-year tradition with Goshen Trust. The Apia Hash House Harriers donated $15,000 in fundraising proceeds to Goshen Trust on 7 January at the Goshen Trust facility in Vailima, marking a decade-long tradition.
This one particularly interests me, as I hope to visit Samoa this year to run the Apia H3.
