This Saturday’s trail promises to be a great one, starting and ending at Southern Community Park in Chapel Hill. Durham folks—please allow a little extra travel time getting there.

Directions are provided in multiple formats (coordinates, links, and a few old-fashioned directions), so use whatever works best for you. The On-After will be at a separate location, with directions included below.

Below the announcement, attachments include:

·         An aerial view of the park to help locate the exact meetup spot – and, on the same docx file, a map from Southern Community Park to the hare’s abode and the Après.

·      two excel worksheets:

One shows this year’s hare schedule, to make sure the dates correspond with the ones on your calendars (wall or digital, either works).

The other is our 2027 hare signup sheet.   Big Box and Jerkules have already stepped up to hare in January!  And now it’s our turn to claim our respective dates to blaze more TH4 trails; after all, next year will be here before we know it.

Cheers and On-On,
Lickety Spit

WALKERS: Walkers are encouraged to:

  • Stick together
  • The hare recommends using the Fan Branch Greenway to find the route back to the park (See WORDZ below)
  • To decrease the chances of getting lost on trail, remember to bring technology along – you know – a smart watch or smart phone - with the street address for Southern Community Park - 1000 Sumac  Rd – Chapel Hill, NC.
  • And if you’re comfortable with working with the coordinates, here they are: 35.8774811, -79.0669182

WORDZ FROM DA HAREZ: Just Thomas sez:

From the starting point at the park, trail will be A-to-A, with plenty of parking at "Southern Village" Community Park, and our meetup location has water and bathrooms. We’ll gather there at 5, then pack off around 5:25.

The trail will have features you might expect at a hash: some neighborhoods, natural paths, off-trail sections, and then we have a Turkey-Eagle split; I will sweep until we reach it.   Co-hares might do some sweeping after that –but  we’ll see.    Turkey will be 3.5-4 miles, and the Eagle will be 5-6, unless people get lost, which would add some distance.

So – look carefully and follow those marks! If you do lose the trail, there are ways to get back: make your way to the Fan Branch Greenway for an easy return to Point A, but if the park’s street address and meetup coordinates are on your devices, those are two more options.

After trail, we’ll caravan over to

15005 Barnhardt Ct for the Après to have some refreshments and share trail adventures.

There is street parking near the house – just don’t block driveways.

 THINGS TO REMEMBER:

Please arrive on time—it’s important and respectful. We’ll have a short window to gather before pack-off, but please note the start time and allow extra travel time if you’re coming from farther away, especially with possible Saturday afternoon traffic.

Bring your “B-Bag” (even though trail is A to A), with whatever extras you need, like repellent, sunscreen,  and something to change into afterwards.

LOST?: Call the hare Just Thomas - at 336-254-4029.
