The Tamil Nadu CIVIL MEDICAL LIST was first prepared in 1894. In the initial stage this was published quarterly. Subsequently, this was made a Half Yearly publication, and gradually it has been made a biennial publication, due to vast expansion of the Medical Department during the past several decades.
The CIVIL MEDICAL LIST is the vital record which helps the administration to assess the seniority and other service particulars of Government Doctors in various categories.
The CIVIL MEDICAL LIST containing various information in respect of the Medical Officers is published by the Director of Medical and Rural Health Services who is the Unit Officer for the cadre maintenance of various categories as a whole in the state of Tamil Nadu. The latest such list was published in 2010 as CML 2010 Civil Medical List Tamil Nadu Health Services.
