WowI just upgraed from Windows 8 to 8.1. Then I went to Indesign to "Print Booklet" a two up 100 page plus booklet, and it would not permit me to do it, saying I had some sort of printer problem. Of course I was printing to PDF not a printer. So, I followed the advice in the early part of this thread, to just go into the print properties while I was in print booklet, and simply fake it out by temporarily changing the print to from PDF to a printer (without printing at all). Then I changed it b

I have the same problem ("Printing Error: Problem Initializing the current printer.") and have yet to find a solution. I am on Windows 7, InDesign CS5 and Acrobat 9.3. I have read too many posts and found no solutions.

Acrobat also keeps crashing thanks to the "MakeAccessible.api" So once I finally get a pdf made in a round about fashion, I cannot combine or crop pages without crashing the program. I shut off all the Accessibility features to my knowledge but it keeps trying to "read" my file--- what gives?

I am having the same problem. This problem appeared out of nowhere. I tried the solutions above, rebooted 3 times, no dice. I was finally able to export to pdf. But I'm wondering why the print function doesnt work.

The questions above are older - I'm on Windows 8.1 x64, trying to print from Indesign 5.5. When Adobe Air updated it also installed an "Adobe Cloud" desktop application. I uninstalled that. Can't recall if I did that before getting export to work.

I haven't reinstalled because I was printing to pdf, and I didn't have time to deauthorize and reinstall the program. ID was a fresh install of 5.5 over CS4. I upgraded Windows 8.1 from 8. Everything works here at the office on my Vista machine, and at home the export to pdf did the trick. However, I am curious about the message.

Then I changed it back, and lo and behold it worked. I print bookleted my document two up to PDF. No problems. Whew! Strange stuff this upgrade business. Unimaginable fixes, only to be discerned by trial and error with properties. Amazing!

So as you said, I clicked Print Booklet, selected a different printer / my real printer. Clicked on the set up button, then hit cancel and cancel.. Then went Print Booklet again, and selected Print to PDF and it worked!!!

New machine with Windows 8.1, InDesign CS6 print to pdf (Acrobat Pro 9.5) was not working with an existing file. Selected a different printer - canceled print - reselected Adobe PDF and Voila. Thank you Patrick.

The only thing I can think of that was different than the last time I used InDesign to Print Booklet to Adobe PDF is that we traded our Konica Minolta network printer for a Xerox). Maybe that messed something up somewhere?

You can print to a post script and open in Acrobat too. I did that and it worked - I also did what Patrick recommended changing the printer and then changing it back to PDF and that worked as well!!! Thank you for your posts and help!!

I have asked support a few times and this is becoming a pain in my ***.

Can someone figure out how to resolve this issue that HP needs to address?

I believe I found the resolution to this error... well... at least this worked for me:

As I was going through the settings on my printer using its web page, I found the Web Service was kept failing. This led me to log onto the HP Smart website where I've signed up for the HP Instant Ink plan where I forgot to update the billing method. Once I updated the billing info and HP took my money (the whole $2.09!!!) the printer started working normally.

So, yes, as the error message read, my HP account had an issue but, I sure do hope that HP could somehow be more informative on how to resolve the issues such as this. And, I hope this helps others to the light at the end of their dark tunnel.

Have you checked your HP Instant Ink account page? Your Instant Ink account page will have notifications if there are any issues with the account or recent cartridge shipment, it will even provide solutions on how to fix the issue. You may log in to your HP Instant Ink account page from here.

If the suggested information can't be found, please send me a private message with your Instant Ink account details or you may also respond to the private message I've sent out and I'll help you out, accordingly. Check next to your profile name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.

The issue that the printing through shipstation connect is still not working. I had the old version, downloaded the new version and it worked for one day. As of yesterday 3/12/24 I started getting the same error "Printing Error - There was a problem downloading the document."

Ok, I was able to get in touch with someone from shipstation. He went to settings (the gear on the top right) and selected printing, then printing setup. Under the Print To he clicked on the zebra printer name and a popup came up. He then clicked on Always Promps.

My HP Officejet Pro 8710 constantly shows the error "There is a problem with the printer. Turn the printer off, then on". I have unplugged it to reset it but wasn't successful. I see several people experiencing the same issue. Can somebody assist? thanks.

This was posted by someone else on 24 July. It works, but getting the BL thing is ridiculous. Had to keep pressing random spots on the lower left corner of the screen before I finally got the Support Menu after a few seconds' delay.

Thanks. I finally got the BL thing and followed the other steps and my printer is back to normal. The BL is rather non-intuitive. You have to tap the bottom left of the screen blindly and expect to hit it. But once you get the "support menu" to show, the following steps are straightforward.

(1) Press BL four times. The BL button is not on the screen, but is next to it at the bottom left. This gives a menu which should have something like "Support Menu". This is the tough part, gotta keep pressing almost at random till it gives you the support menu.

I've got a MacBook Pro running High Sierra 10.13.6. I bought the TS5020 around January 1 of this year. I occasionally get the "Printer not connected looking for printer" message at the printer icon. I managed to connect with Canon once soon after setting the printer up initially and the guy walked me through setting the whole thing up again (using the USB cord) and then told me about "reset printer system". That got the printer going again. I've had to reset the printer system several times since then. Very annoying! The printer was set up and connected. I made sure that before unplugging the printer that it was truly off and when using it again I made sure that it was plugged into my computer before turning the printer on and waited a couple of minutes after turning it on before asking it to print and it still came up with looking for printer. Is there any way to permanently get rid of this problem?

The reason I bought this printer is that my old Canon printer died - I had it for 10 years and I must have set up a Canon account at that time but I had forgotten the password. After trying several times to get into the account Canon said my account has been disabled and I needed to call them to set up a new password. I called and the agent said someone would contact me by email in a week or so to resolve this. it has been a month and no email. When I call Canon I am told the wait time is 30 minutes. Is there a way around this? Is there another phone number I can call that doesn't have such a long wait time?

Hi, Joyce! Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We've notified our IT team about your situation and hope to have a solution soon. In the meantime, please check your inbox to make sure that any email responses that you might have received from Canon USA didn't accidentally get classified as spam.

Thanks for your reply. I have a friend whose emails, for some weird reason, always end up i my spam box so I check that regularly. I look forward to being able to get into my Canon account. Joyce Keay

As to the other part of your response, after initially setting the printer up without a problem, then encountering the "looking for printer" error I did call Canon and talked with a techie (after being on hold for about 30 minutes). We reset up the printer and he showed me how to reset printer system. I've done both several times since talking with him and still get this annoying error. I would just like to be able to turn the printer on and print without having to go through the above steps. I had an MP480 for about 10 years and never had a problem until thei ink absorbers became full. So is there a way to be rid of this very annoying problem?

You should not have to continually reset "the printing system" on your MAC each time you want to use the printer. In general USB is persistent and reliable. Your recurring problem might lead us to believe there is something else that might be contributung to the issue.

Hi, Thanks for your reply. I'm using whatever drivers Canon loaded when I set up the TS5020. I didn't do anything special. I would hope that when I go through the setup routine from the first step to the last that Canon would automatically use the latest drivers for this printer that are appropriate for High Sierra 10.13.6.
