Hi All,

We are happy to announce version 3.6 of MyTardis.

I will give everyone a couple days to react, then I will also point the master branch to 3.6.
Remember to point your installation scripts to a version number branch or tag for explicitly controlled updates.

Since version 3.5 over a year ago, we have completed a large amount of development and fixed a number of issues identified as crucial (https://github.com/mytardis/mytardis/milestones/3.6).
Please refer to the changelog here for a detailed list of all the changes: http://mytardis.readthedocs.org/en/3.6/changes.html

Since this has come up recently and might not have been stated anywhere explicitly:
We strive to maintain API compatibility even through data model changes. So, in theory, your code talking to API v1 should work just the same. If it doesn't, let us know and we will endeavour to return compatibility as best as possible.
Right now there is no API v2 yet that would expose all the new features completely. This is in the works for later this year, but it will still not replace API v1 and the v1 functionality should remain intact until officially deprecated when everyone is happy with v2.

And finally the obvious but important reminder: Please backup your data and database. Make a copy of your database to test the migrations. Finally, run and manually test the code on a test server, before updating anything on your production server.

Cheers

Congratulations, Grischa!

This is an insane amount of work. MyTardis is now in a significantly improved position to help capture and publish data from scientific facilities. Big things are coming, too, and you've set the wider project up to kick goals.

Have >= 1 imported German beer(s) tonight..
