Hi Everyone, I'm taking Tarbell for a spin and I keep getting this error when I paste in the generated url to authenticate my client_secrets.json.   I tried setting the Redirect URIs but that didn't help.  I've tried just about everything I can think of but no luck.  I'm going to take a walk then start over from scratch.  I'm sure it's something simple but it's also really frustrating, so I thought I'd check in and see if anyone else has encountered this.  Thanks!

Hey Joe, can you paste a screenshot? The link doesn't work unless I'm you (which is a tricky existential bug for which no solution exists).

I have a sneaking suspicion this is related to something I recently ran into in Mexico: Can you start over and create a new API project with the "new" the Google API console? The "Project Default Service Account" name goes back to the older version of the API console (which perhaps you are using). One thing that's currently not documented that I've only very recently found out is necessary is to go to the "consent screen" section for the project and enter a title.

Here's the screenshot.  I'm using the new Google API console (it asked me if I'd like to switch back to the "old" version).  I started over, though, just in case and this is the latest error (same as the last).  I also added a title (you can see that reflected in the screenshot) and even enabled billing since I've run into that before with certain APIs.  I also tried various values for the redirect URI...just following the error message provided.  I noticed in the docs there was a URI redirect provided.  But, nothing I try works.  Localhost is no dice and google won't let me use: 'urn:ietf:wg:oauth:2.0:oob '.

In my searches, I found that sometimes there's a long lag before an app is validated/ready to use?  Maybe I'm running into that?

Wow, very odd. I'll try to replicate this tonight. Sorry about this, I can't say I've seen it before.

No worries man!  We'll get it. It's weird though for sure.  I included another screenshot and the client_secrets.json just in case.  Incidentally, this most recent attempt is when I started messing around with the Javascript Origins settings and the Redirect URIs...just really grasping at straws, though.

I got this solved.  What worked was that instead of "Web App", I chose "Installed Application"....the third option in the first screenshot.  Then, I chose "Installed Application Type" as "Other" (screenshot_2).   I then generated the clientID and the result was the third screenshot.  The Redirect URIs included in the screenshot were auto-populated.  I continued with the configuration as expected after this. I'm going to go ahead and file an issue on the repo although my guess is that it's not a problem with the library itself, it's just the docs need to be changed to reflect the Google API change.  Anyway, David, if you have any questions or need more info let me know.  I'd also be happy to contribute the documentation change.

Hey, thank you. I just checked the docs -- they specify to use "install application" and I assumed that's what you were doing or I think I would have caught it faster. What were you looking at that specified otherwise? I want to make sure we're not confusing folks in the docs...

I think I might have sent this email twice but I was using these docs: http://tarbell.readthedocs.org/en/0.9-beta6/install.html.  I just saw that Heather closed my issue ticket and said she just hadn't pushed the doc change yet.

Ahhh I see! Ha, a case of the right hand not knowing what the left hand was doing. I'm sorry for the mistake and for the confusion.
