Who is the best 'rooter' in TLUG?

Anyone able to help me upgrade the OS of this TAB of mine to at least 4.1.2 so that it will run a particular APP? I have done the usual "Google is your friend" routine but am wary of the intentions of some of the offerings from .RU and don't want to entirely BRICK my device nor compromise my security.
The internal UPDATE routine can't find the ACER server and I don't believe ACER has upgraded this particular TAB since it was introduced in 2012.

Hi David,
Not a huge choice available for after market roms for that device - but there appear to be some which show promise.
I'd start here... they have a bunch of options available and
a good reputation.

Start with recovery then work from there. I'd say give each rom a go and see which you like.
