Taplynx team,

With iPhone 5's 1136 pixel size require any changes for old or new apps?  I gather that old apps would work fine and that a thin black band would be placed automatically on the sides.  Is there anything required on your end to support the 1136 pixel size?

Thanks!

Vimal-

Thanks for getting in touch!

We're putting together a new build now and hope to have it ready by next week at which point we can answer specifically. If we can't get 1136 into next week then it will be shortly after that.

Thank you for using TapLynx!

Joe

I've been doing some initial testing and TapLynx is doing the right thing (i.e. screen sizes weren't hard coded) and the views are all stretching as we want.

If you do nothing, then your app will just have the black margins when run on an iPhone 5 (if I'm understanding correctly). If you update and add the tall Default image (in XCode there is now a new place for a Default image which needs to be 640x1136 and needs to be named Defaul...@2x.png) then the iPhone 5 and the iPhone5 simulator will stretch the app.

I did have to update my TA_MapKitPlugin on Github to adjust for this new size. I am testing my other plugins now, but my version of OOZWebView and CitizenReporter look fine. My AudioStreamer looks a little odd but functions correctly. I'll be updating that over the weekend.

So...my advice: if you are just using TapLynx then all you need to do is resubmit your app with a new Default image. If you have some plugins installed, then you need to check those.

I just resized the default image and it worked but when i came to build for archive i got the following error:

ld: file is universal (3 slices) but does not contain a(n) armv7s slice: /Users/xxx/Desktop/iPhone Apps/Taplynx 1.5.1/libTapLynx_1.5.1.a for architecture armv7s

clang: error: linker command failed with exit code 1 (use -v to see invocation)

According to a quick google search the library needs to be updated?

Or you can just erase the references to armv7s.

But I read that was a temporary fix. Would it affect no io6 users or users of older phones etc?

Correct, the proper fix is for TapLynx to release a new library. I was offering this in the interim while we wait for them.

Removing the references to armv7s will get rid of your error. When you compile with XCode 4.5 you have to drop armv6 and support for everything before iOS 4.3 anyway which means you are dropping support for iPhone 3G and earlier. This is Apple's new rule, not TapLynx's.

Disclaimer: I don't have an iPhone 5 for testing yet, so I'm going on what I've read and the funny errors I get when I've submitted things to the App Store this week.

Hi Walter,

Thanks for your suggestion I was able to get the errors removed in iOS 6.  Now waiting for the new Taplynx build to take care of it.

I do have one request for you, in your audio streamer plugin for Taplynx you had mentioned the UI is not displaying well.  Do you know when you may be able to get the fix for it? I fully appreciate your help in providing that and your other plugins to the  Taplynx community and can understand that you have your own work which would be a priority.

Thanks,
Vimal

The only thing I am planning to change is the odd rectangle that appears below the picker when there are multiple streams. Are there other changes you want me to make? I might as well do them all at one time.

I pushed a change to the layout to make the plug-in more iPhone 5 to github just now. I will look into any other changes that you would like.

Thanks a lot, I will test it soon.  The only other thing I wished for was if it would be possible to add the audio stream's title so we get to see the song/podcast being played.  iPhone 5's extra real estate could now afford it.

Best,
Vimal

So, you only play 1 stream? (when the system sees multiple streams it will display a picker instead of the text view which displays the title).

You would like to see the long description of the stream in the text view and you would like to display the title of the stream as well. Yes?

I do have multiple streams in the picker view.  When I pick one stream, I was thinking the title of the song/podcast currently being played show below the picker view either above or below the stop/start button. I hope that make sense?

Wouldn't that be the same as what is showing as "selected" in the picker?

No, see the picker view lists the streaming station's name that we would have provided in the ngconfig's Stream Title.  For instance, I may have KCBS, KQED, or other mp3 streaming stations in the Stream Title.

Let's say I pick, KQED from the picker list and that station is now playing Adele's song "Rolling in the Deep".  That would be the mp3's stream title that's coming in the metadata.  It's the song's name that I'd like to be displayed below the picker view section.  I

Stream Title of the mp3 stream is the song's name and it is confusing with the ngconfig stream description which is really the station name.  We don't need the station name displayed again (to your question/point).

Joe,

Looking for a build? Its been 13 days since this email went out..
Are there blockers keeping this from being built?

Thanks,
Steve

Steve,

If it looks good in the simulator and on a device, you can use the existing library and just remove the armv7s references.

I know it's hard to believe, but we're still working on the update. "Programming is easy until something doesn't work."

We're eager to get it into everyone's hands, as well, but we don't want to ship it if it's not ready.

Thank you for your continued patience, we'll let you know ASAP.
