in the development of natural burial standards.
The Green Burial Council, with input from professionals inthe field of,
ecological restoration, sustainable landscape design, and consumer
affairs, has come up with draft standards for conventional cemeteries
offering green burial, as well as for burial grounds that further a
legitimate conservation purpose.
It is our hope is that these standards will provide the public with a
means of identifying deathcare providers who operate in an ethical and
environmentally sound manner. We also hope they will encourage
conservation entities to embrace this concept as a new tool for
restoring land and protecting open space.
