After reading the newsletter, I find it interesting that Chief Ross, who wrote the article of "city or no city", did not include the third option we have and that is to be annexed by Blue Springs. If we choose to vote on a bond this April, we are committed to it, no matter what our status. We will meet our obligation through our real estate tax and that can be administered by a trustee if we are annexed or bankrupted. We will be direct billed by the utility if we are unincorporated or through Blue Springs if we are annexed. If we take the grown up approach and live within our means and admit that we no longer can reasonably generate the amount of sustainable income to run a city, without driving out half the residents, we can consider letting a much larger, more experienced entity get involved in our future.

I have spoken with the elders of Blue Springs, and they are very open to a meeting with residents and/or Mayor and Aldermen that have an interest in the intricacies of an annexation. With a pre scheduled meeting they will align their city engineers and administrators and directors of departments and answer any of our questions regarding the processes and the outcomes of annexation. They expressed an interest in talking with us and even said at our convenience. There is no reason that a town with the population and the sophistication of our residents and property tax generation that a city would not entertained the idea at least of annexing us. We are unique to Tarsney Lakes, in that we have a very strong homeowners association and we could expand that to encompass larger protections in our community for future building and residential codes as well as safety concerns. We could also entertain gates with one security guard and two closed gates with automobile stickers that communicate to open the gate or many other options. We just returned from Florida where gated communities are the norm. No private police dept needed. Crime rates close to none. And HOA rules supersede any Blue Springs have. Rep Sheila Solon confirmed that to me personally!
