A font can be embedded only if it containsa setting by the font vendor that permits it to be embedded. Embeddingprevents font substitution when readers view or print the file, and ensures that readers see the text in its original font. Embeddingincreases file size only slightly, unless the document uses CIDfonts. a font format commonly used for Asian languages. You canembed or substitute fonts in Acrobat or when you export an InDesigndocument to PDF.
The Acrobat installation includes width-only versions of many common Chinese, Japanese, and Korean fonts, therefore Distiller can then access these fonts in Acrobat. Make sure that the fonts are available on your computer. (In Windows, choose Complete when you install Acrobat, or choose Custom and select the Asian Language Support option under the View Adobe PDF category. In Mac OS, these fonts are installed automatically.)
To specify other font folders for Distiller to search, in Acrobat Distiller, choose Settings > Font Locations. Then in the dialog box, click Add to add a font folder. Select Ignore TrueType Versions Of Standard PostScript Fonts to exclude TrueType fonts that have the same name as a font in the PostScript 3 font collection.
You can create a printable previewof your document that substitutes default fonts for any text formattedin fonts that are available on your local computer but are not embeddedin the PDF. This preview can help you decide whether to embed thoselocal fonts in the PDF, to achieve the look you want for your document.
A default Gujarati keyboard layout, simply called Gujarati, is included in Windows. This layout seems to be have been created by the Depart of Engineering (DOE) of India. This keyboard is great if the keyboard keys are labeled with Gujarati characters instead of English. You have to learn the layout if you want to use this layout. However, if you use an English keyboard, then you may want to use my Gujarati Phonetic keyboard layout instead. These keyboard layouts work with any Unicode fonts.
The solution to this is the Gujarati keyboard layout used for Unicode Gujarati fonts. Images 1 and 2 below show the default Gujarati keyboard layout included with Windows. This layout is for any Unicode font, not just Shruti font which comes preinstalled with Windows. I will explain how this keyboard layout makes typing Gujarati easy.
An important development in Windows 10 is the Universal Windows Platform (UWP): a converged app platform allowing a developer to create a single app that can run on all Windows devices. Windows fonts are one aspect of this convergence: Windows 10 introduces a recommended UWP font set that is common across all editions that support UWP, including Desktop, Server, and Xbox.
A number of additional fonts are available for Desktop and Server, including all other fonts from previous releases. However, not all of these are pre-installed by default in all images. In order to make disk usage and font choices more relevant to users according to the languages that they use, a number of fonts have been moved into optional, on-demand packages. These packages are designed around the different scripts that fonts are primarily intended to support, and most are installed automatically by Windows Update when the associated languages are enabled in language settings (for example, by enabling a keyboard). Any of these Feature On Demand (FOD) packages can also be installed manually via Settings. To add font packages manually, select the Start button, and then select Settings > Apps > Apps & features > Manage optional features.
Other web fonts support a wider range of writing systems. Depending on the project, it might be a priority for your font to have matching Arabic, Greek, or Hebrew characters. You can also find web fonts to support a range of Hindic scripts like Bengali, Devanagari, Gujarati, and Tamil, as well as Southeast Asian languages like Thai. To see your options in Google Fonts, filter by language with the dropdown menu.
If you expect to use a lot of numbers, bear in mind that they come in several different styles intended for different contexts. Oldstyle figures are preferable for blocks of text like paragraphs. If you look closely, you will notice that some numbers are aligned below the baseline that orients the rest of the text. This helps with the readability of numbers within long strings of text. Tabular figures are vertically centered and monospaced horizontally. This helps them to appear more regular and consistent in tables, hence the name. Also bear in mind that only some fonts include proper fraction signs. Ditto the hundred-odd currency symbols used all over the world. Try these examples: Alegreya, Exo, Montserrat, Roboto, Spectral, Google Fonts with OpenType features

Social media content is shown at relatively small sizes, so it needs both fonts to be quite clear, but you can still look for a bold, more stylish font for the display text and something nice and crisp for the body. A popular combination for event invitations is to use a script font for the display text and an elegant but clean and legibly sans serif for the body copy.
The right font pairings are an essential part of successful graphic design. There are fonts that work together and fonts that clash. But how do you choose? The key, whether you're designing a website, a poster or anything else, is to find fonts that contrast, not conflict.

Neacademia by Sergei Egorov is a response to the prevailing perfection of digital typography. Designed to allow for and even benefit from low resolutions, rough paper, and low-grade presswork, this family will be welcomed by letterpress aficionados who see few suitable fonts nowadays. Neacademia currently only boasts a single weight with an italic, but keep an eye out for optical weights, planned for release in the coming year.
Creative Characters is the MyFonts newsletter dedicated to people behind the fonts. Each month, we interview a notable personality from the type world. And we would like you, the reader, to have your say.
Free fonts are great, and there are thousands on the web to choose from. The problem is, though, most of them can be a bit overused or underwhelming. So how can you save money on type while still getting the high quality you'd expect from a paid-for asset? Two words: Google Fonts.
Technically, Google Fonts is also very easy to use online. Rather than messing around with multiple font files, you can use the Google Fonts CSS API to embed the fonts directly on your website. And they're lightweight and compressed, so they'll load nice and quickly.
So how do you choose the best Google Font for your project? First, you'll need to check if it's suitable for the design elements you're using. Some fonts, for example, suit normal-sized body text but not large headlines, and vice-versa. You'll also want to know that the font family contains all the features you need. For example, is the font available in a sufficient range of weights and styles? Do you require multiple language support, numbers, fractions, etc.?
