I've been using v. 4.08 for a little while now and am learning to use
and enjoy many of the new features. I have been stuck on one or two
important actions.

Since "Clip" has been moved from the left "Organizing" column to the
noptebook area, I've been unable to move notes and topics from one note
book to another. As several of my projects tend to cross notebook
lines, and I don't want to enter the data several times, this is a
problem for me. I'm sure that there's a simple way to do this (as it
was very easy in past versions) but I can't seem to find it. This has
resulted im my putting my use of TaoNotes on hold for a while until I
found time to write and ask about the problem.
Any suggestions?

Hi Bill!

Did you try Cut/Copy & Paste buttons on the main toolbar? I believed they
work now for moving/copying data between notebooks....
Check them... Then reply...

I've tried the cup & paste commands and button several times. They work within notebooks but not from one notebook to another.

Just out of curiosity, what is the purpose of the 'clip' tab in the newer versions of TaoNotes?

I am new to taonotes - my big question: how do people get this thing
running since there ist no quickstart, everything looking different
from screenshots (new look gif looks great: where is that view? I
downloaded last version, but it looks completely different...),
everything being different from all help documents, inconsistencies
with terms, and no intuitive shortcuts, default files in taonotes which
have gif errors (wrong path?) for ALL gifs linked.....
Looking promising, but I want to START with MY tasks. For that I would
be willing to read a manual, and I think, that a PRECISE but short
quickstart would be enough to be able to start...

How do you expect to get new users? It is frightening seeing many
different files (homepages, helf file, taonotes files) and no uptodate
help. I really do not recommend that way.

I agree. TaoNotes has tremendous promise. I first looked at it approx 18
months ago and I decided to wait until the developers idea had gelled and
that there was at least some sort of user guide. Unfortunately that has not
happened. Don't get me wrong, the pace of updates and development support
and involvement is impressive. However, there MUST be a workable user
guide. Maybe there are 2 types of people - one who learns software by
tooling around on a live demo and another that learns while flipping through
a manual in bed before sleep. I am the latter. The only way I can review
an application is to flip through a manual and get the overview of what is
available, what the screens look like and decide what I could do with this
product. Then if I am intrigued, I spend screen time demoing the app and
finally, will go to the user guide or help to perfect my skills or solve a
particular roadblock. I am a software geek because I read user guides of
dozens of packages a year. I spend a lot of money in color laser toner to
print out the user guides ;) I am being extreme to make a point, or
actually to endorse the writer point below. TaoNotes will not succeed
without a current QuickStart guide, with current screen shots, current
terminology, and a basic overview of the philosophy of design.

Vadim - love your vision, but we need help seeing and using it.
