The purpose of Mahayana Buddhism is to provide absolute
happiness and joy through the wisdom of Buddha and the infinite spirit.
Tao Sangha is a place where the ideal teachings of Mahayana
Buddhism manifest.

1: Training System
1.What training in Tao Sangha?
(1) Nembutu Samadhi / BENNEI
KYOUGAKU/teaching
During
the Meiji years (1868 through 1912) in Japan, there was a virtuous priest often
referred to as a modern Buddha, called (saint) BENNEI. The truth of the
Samaddhi at the heart of Mahayana Buddhism, realized by saint BENNEI, rises
from connecting and unifying with the great love of the universe. Through this
unification, the saint had embodied the eternal Pure Land, which goes beyond life and death. His teaching structure
encompasses the cumulative 2500 years of teachings of all sects of Buddhism
including Shingon, Tendai, Zen, and Pure Land. His recognition of a
principal image and teachings offers the possibility to unify with all other religions,
and directly connects with the enlightenment of Shakamuni Buddha. Therefore, this is a message for the future
of humanity, whose history is fraught with repeated suffering due to religious
conflict.
To
share this with everyone for a bright future is one of the wishes of Wadaji Tao
Sangha, as is the practice of Nembutsu Samadhi based on the teachings of saint
BENNEI, beyond the boundaries of any religion.
(2)Seven Fuku Nembutsu / Changing
Destiny and being happy
Originally,
the purpose of Mahayana Buddhism was not only for spiritual enlightenment or going
to the Pure Land in the afterlife,
but also to experience happiness during our lifetime. What is the key of
creating a happy life? It is changing the subconscious (ALAYA conscious). How does the subconscious change? In Tao Sangha, the
change is recognized by receiving the ability ‘of being happy’
by the purification of the “ALAYA conscious,” through Nembutsu and
living in FUSE, “donating
life”, based on Giving Heart. Destiny can be
changed by praying『SEVEN FUKU NEMBUTSU』 four times a day. It
is the wish of Tao Sangha to share this good destiny with everyone.
(3) HANNYA SHINGYO—HEART SUTRA/Spiritual EKOU
Throughout
history, there have been many great writers, authors, mystics, artists,
theologians and philosophers, who explored the spirit world. Emanuel Swedenborg, (1688 ~ 1772) was one
such philosopher, influencing many others, including Helen Keller and renowned Japanese
Buddhist author Daisetsu T. Suzuki. Swedenborg explored the ‘in and out’ of the
spirit world, and one of his theories, that of the “corresponding rule,” states
that the spirits from the spirit world and from our world are “corresponding”,
so our health and emotional states are affected by the heart states and
situation of those spirits.
In
Tao Sangha we also believe in the connective nature of our lives and the spirit
world, and thus practice Nembutsu. By
specifically reciting the Heart Sutra, we help release our ancestor’s spirits, as
well as all karmic relations from our past lives, including unsaved spirits of
the whole universe, to the Pure Land. We also pray for the continual development of
the spiritual stage of the Buddhas, Boddhisatvas, and Devas in the whole
universe.
After
attending Nembutsu Samaddhi, it is not uncommon to feel deep relaxation,
calmness and peace. The mind and body feel lighter, because of the direct
co-relation of helping sprits with a karmic relation to us. When we pray and
wish for unsaved spirits and for our karmically related spirits, Bodhisattva saves
them as a reflection of our prayers, and those spirits saved are at peace by the
grace of Buddha and Bodhisattva. This
reflects on our life and gives us comfort, bringing joy to our mind and body,
as well protection by all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.
(4) Ki Communication
Many
ancient Mahayana Buddhist activities originated from the practitioners who were
not living in the temple and additionally by some monks who had progressive
ideas. These activities were also considered in some part to be a kind of Buddhist
revolution. The principal of their community-based philosophy was the equality
of all practitioners. Similarly, in Tao Sangha, social status is unimportant as
we strive to create a community based on a ‘positive heart’ such as Giving
Heart, Devotion, etc. In order to achieve this ideal, Tao Sangha has
psychological counseling-like communication training called Ki Communication as
a part of their training and practice.
(5) Ki and Heart Work / Experiencing the truth of the Universe
(Recognition
of the right or wrong path)
The
most important thing for students is to be able to recognize if the path they
are on is the right one for them. If someone
continues training incorrectly for a long time, it can be said that they are
wasting their life. Once time is past, it will not return. However, in general,
we won’t know if the training is right or wrong unless we try, just as we won’t
know what an apple tastes like unless we try it. Yet, if there is no assurance
that joining a path is right, to continue training becomes a gamble. So how can we know if the path we are on is
correct? Through Ki work, one of the
revolutions of Tao Sangha, we can clearly see the truth about the path we are
on.
If
a path is a tradition, and has patiently survived in the past, it can be
perceived as harmless. Just like
Christianity was the religious revolution of Judaism, the teaching of HONEN (1133
~ 1212) is almost the complete opposite of Old Buddhism, in a sense, true spirituality
found within revolution. Similarly in
Tao Sangha, there exist many new, revolutionary spiritual practices, for
example, GOTAI (the 5 states of the body) which never existed before. Therefore, in their training, all students are
constantly challenged to constantly see if the Sangha’s teachings are the truth
by simply experiencing them.
Experiencing a state of enlightenment
By
applying Ki work, it is possible to experience the state that would otherwise
take many years of practice. The first step is『Ki
and Heart Nembutsu • the 56 philosophy System』allowing for eternal
peace, joy and merit to be received through Nembutsu Samadhi. If this awaking
experience occurs as a result of one’s practice, one’s
state of mind will be stable at all times, and becomes reflected through one’s
lifestyle as well. In Ki Work, although it is possible to experience this state
of mind without years of training, without constant practice, it is impossible
to be stable in this state. This means
that one should never have the feeling of ‘knowing everything because
of their Ki work’; this attitude has to be avoided at
all cost.
Through
Ki and Heart Work, you can directly experience the meaning of the sutras,
something that is truly impossible to receive without training (since we can
only understand on a rational level by studying books). This is why it is so very important to train
in the Ki & Heart method and experience the truth for oneself. In all Tao
Sangha teachings, students can determine all right or wrong through Ki Work.
This is a one of the characteristics of Tao Sangha.
In
the Buddhist tradition, things have always been decided to be either right or
wrong, and the differences explained in teachings by comparing them to Buddhist
sutras. (This is called KYOUSOU HANJYAKU
in Japanese). Tao Sangha talks about the common points with other teachings,
but does not talk about the differences. This allows the students to determine the
merit of Tao Sangha teachings on their own by their Ki work. An important point here to understand is that
the deepest and most precious teachings become less meaningful if students only
develop their practice on an intellectual level. Buddha’s teaching isn’t an
accessory of our knowledge—it is understood within our heart, and felt as a
body sensation, and thus, reflected onto our life.
2. What kind of training?
Main Training
(1) Nembutsu Samadhi
Each
Nembutsu practitioner receives a force from Amida Buddha by wishing for the enlightenment
of all human beings. With a mindful heart, by imagining Amida Buddha, we unify
with the great love of Amida Buddha. Like the mystic Meister Eckhart (1260 ~
1327) said, praising God (Amida) leads to the spiritual development for the
whole universe.
Sub-Training
(i) HANNYA SHINGYO / Spiritual EKOU
Rescuing unsaved spirits is devoting
Giving Heart to the whole spiritual world.
(ii) Seven Fuku (Seven Happiness)
Nembutsu
1-
To
shift our destiny, we pray SHICHIFUKU
Nembutsu four times a day,
even when we are walking.
2- We seed our happy life within our
subconscious while we sing/chant SHICHIFUKU
Nembutsu.
3- SHICHIFUKU
Nembutsu dancing.
(iii) Ki
Communication
The basis of Ki Communication spirit is
in『SHISHOUBOU / Four ways to be
enlightened』which
is
to spread the Buddha’s teaching by ancient Mahayana Buddhists.
(iv)
SAMU and GUTSUU Creation
SAMU- cleaning work as part of training at a
temple
GUTSUU- to spread Buddha’s teaching
Both SAMU and GUTUU are to share NYORAI’s
greatest love. It is to have action
based on giving heart to all and also as devotion to NYORAI. A life style that
is to share the greatest love from Buddha and to live with a Giving Heart with
devotion, contains the essence to creating a happy life.
(2) Wish Fulfilling Waterfall Nembutsu
traning
Write
your wish on a candle and put it in front of the waterfall with incense. Go
under the waterfall. While you are in the water, repeat the Heart Sutra and
Nembutsu to fulfill your wish. It’s effective! Waterfall Nembutsu training is
offered in Canada and Japan.
3. What is the training schedule like
at the temple?
(1) Regular Nembutsu Gatherings / Evenings,
weekly
We
have Nembutsu Samdhi,Sutra talks, Seven Fuku, Nembutsu dancing, and more.
For
students who live far away, it is possible to join these by internet.
(4) BETSUJI Nembutsu / Once a month
BETSUJI
means organizing for a special occasion. We organize some training schedules at
different times from a gathering. There are two types of BETSUJI.
(3) Nembutsu High
We
do music and dance Nembutsu twelve hours a day for couple of days.
(6) Nembutsu Network
Nembutsu
for 24 hours to connect worldwide. (This project is planned in the future)
4. Two types of BETSUJI
There
are MONTO BETSUJI called『happiness experience

(Practitioner-BETSUJI)
(1)Problems may occur with people
We
are able to realize the problems related to religious and spiritual
communities, when looking back at our history. Even though there were people
who reached spiritual enlightenment, many also made negative actions.
In
Europe, Christianity had the Inquisition and witch hunts, and many Jews and
Muslims were brutally massacred. In Germany, it is said the population was
reduced by one third due to religious wars between Christians. We need to
recognize the dangers regarding spirituality that human beings commonly create.
(2) Guardian Angel/God Work
In
this work, others verbalize what your guardian angels wish for you and what way
of being will bring happiness for you.
(3) Gestalt way of conversation
We
approach conversation with Buddha through psychological processes.
(4)Appreciation and Dissatisfaction
Work
This
work is to develop better communication with each other in the community. It is applied with warmth, fun, and humour to
help us reflect on ourselves (with work of SOUGO-SENZOKU)
(5)FUSATSU Psycho Drama
When
Buddha was still alive, Monks had meetings twice a month to reflect on problems
which had occurred within their Sangha. It is called FUSATSU. FUSATSU used to
be a discussion to solve problems. When a monk caused a problem, the monk
confessed it and/or it was pointed out by other monks and they decided what to
do through open talk.
We
apply FUSATSU as a way to discuss
problems which occur within Tao Sangha. If a Member needs reflection on
himself, he will become a stage director, cast himself, then stage and play out
his drama.

Chapter
2 : The Outline of Tao Sangha community
1.
What
type of members?
Tao Sangha is similar in
spirit to the Franciscan monastery as an older model, and the house of Mother
Teresa as a more recent model. The primary reason is that the activities of
both of these organizations continue transmitting the love of God through Giving
Heart.
Essentially there are
two types of members at both the monastery and the house, the ones who accept
others whose hearts are in pain, Shu-dou-shi,
in Japanese, giving love and comfort to those in need, and the members who are
accepted and receive this love and comfort by the Shu-dou-shi.
There are also
volunteers who support these activities through their actions and/or
financially by donation.
Also, there are people
who not only feel love and comfort from the facility and the monks there, they
feel the sympathy of these activities and that the teachings are something
important in their own lives. Those who feel this way have their faith
awakened, become members and participate in prayers on a regular basis.
In the same way, there
are many types of people in Tao Sangha. First, we have members who accept
people to share the love of Amida Buddha and create excitement in Tao Sangha.
There are some that work to support Tao Sangha, and also members who do
creation activities. As well, there are members who give donations regularly.
On the other hand, there
are people who feel love and comfort in Tao Sangha, and also feel the joy. They
eventually realize that the practice here is something fundamentally important
in life, and they come regularly to participate in Nembutsu chanting.
When San-po-kie is born in their heart and
they show an interest to join us, they receive the Okamisori-kikyo-shiki ceremony and become a Mon-to.
The three basic types of
members are below:
< Mon-to
>
A person who becomes an
official member of Tao Sangha. They participate in an initiation called “Okamisori”. A new Mon-to receives the following at an Okamisori initiation. (The Admission fee is ¥18000 or $180 Can or
US)
1 Member’s card
2 A complete Nembutsu CD
3 A Nembutsu booklet
4 Proof of initiation
5 Sangha Juzu (bracelet)
< Sangha
Gyou-jya >
These are members who,
through their activities help to create Sangha, support activities through
donations. The activities from Sangha Gyou-jya are supervised by
charged Shu-do-shi. When our
committee confirms a Mon-to’s ability
(ex: hold ego, not to quit work, or give more priority to creation rather than
personal things) in activities, he/she will receive Nyu-Gyou-shiki ceremomy and become Sangha Gyou-jya. In the Nyu-Gyou-shiki
ceremony, a Jo-do-syu Wadaji temple Tao
Sangha Kesa will be provided. One who becomes a Gyou-jya wears the Kesa
during Nembutsu chanting at the Wada Ji Dojo.
<Syu-dou-shi>
Syu-dou-shi are the ones
who have the responsibility within Sangha to accept others with the spirit of Shi-syou-bou, love and comfort (Dharma).
In Buddhism, we call them No-ke. This Japanese Buddhist term, “No-ke”, means to make a shift in others
hearts, to make awareness of the Buddha nature in others hearts. In Tao Sangha,
we call it Nembutsu Syu-dou-shi, or Syu-dou-shi (Monk.)
Like the Franciscan
monastery or the house of Mother Teresa, to accept others and spread the love
of God to others is to have priority with God, not to your own ego. Therefore,
until this point is reached, it is necessary to face your own very substantial
ego and to go beyond it.
1-The ceremony to become
Syu-dou-shi is called Tokudo Shu-dou ceremony. The ceremony
has the same meaning as becoming a monk. It is a private ceremony in which only
Shu-dou-shi can participate. You will
receive I-gi-boso (Go-jyou-kesa).
2- Syu-dou-shi will wear Go-jyou-kesa
in regular Nembutsu, and at a ceremony they will wear Sou-i (Koku-i—black cloth
for monk--- and I-gi-boso).
3- Syu-dou-shi is in charge of many ceremonies including Okamisori and Nyu-gyou-shiki. They are also in charge of the workshop leaders and
become supervisors of Gyou-jya who
are doing creation activity.
4- Syu-dou-shi and Syu-dou-shi
applicants will attend Syu-dou-shi
communication training. Syu-dou-shi
cannot avoid Fusa-tsu drama. When Syo-dou-shi show ego, he/she will return
to the level of Gyou-jya or Monto.
2.What
kind of ceremony and activities in Tao Sangha ?
<Ceremonies related to Happy Events>
(1) Birthdays
This is
very unique.
(2) Buddhist
style weddings.
Provided
in any center in the world.
(3) Sho-Ryo
ceremony
There
is a special ceremony for a foetus in Buddhism, but nothing special for a baby.
However there have been some demands from oversea members, therefore it was
created.
<Ceremonies related for other occasions>
(1) Memorial
service
It
would be held for members and/or its families in Tao Sangha style.
(2) Tao
Sangha day
July/7th. This day, an article called “Tao Sangha Development
for the Next Generation” was published, and
so we celebrate this day. This falls on the same day as the Japanese “Star Festival”.
The story of the “ Star Festival’ symbolizes the
unification of duality in our world, such as materialism and spiritualism, the
west and the east, and Yin and Yang.
(3) New
Year Nembutsu
On
December 31 through New Year’s Day, we network all of the centers over the
world by Nembutsu. After the Nembutsu session, we meet each other through Skype
and then greet each other!
(4) Wadaji
Ceremonial Tour: held once a year
–mostly in the spring—at the headquarters of Wadaji temple.
3 Unique Community Philosophy
It
depends on each members determination to control their “Ego”. Basically, we
don’t force anyone to control their ego as in other organizations. Possibly,
Tao Sangha is a most comfortable place for everyone, but there is a good
possibility that each member is being egoistic, which can lead to a very
uncomfortable situation. For example, if we make hierarchies clear, there is no
space for the appearance of ego—unless higher members are being egoistic. However,
in Tao Sangha, we do not count on any material aspects such as the age, gender,
how long you have been a member, etc. We only count on each and everyone’s
heart state; how much you can give, devote, be humble etc.
It is a normal state of our human nature to be
egoistic when in the state of no position at all, therefore, we have to see our
own ego and control it by ourselves as if walking on a tight rope. Because each
one of us has to be aware of controlling our own ego, it is a not an easy way.
But if it succeeds, Sangha is heaven. A unique characteristic of Sangha is not
giving up to find the most ideal space for human beings.
4 What kind of diet is recommended in
Tao Sangha ?
It is recommended not to consume at least one of
the following three things: cigarettes, white sugar or coffee. However, more
importantly than what you consume or don’t, is to have gratitude when you do have
any food, which means not taking any food as a material. Our food is the soul
of other beings, therefore, we appreciate with 10 Nembutsu, and then humbly
eat. Actually, if you 10 Nembutsu 3 times with visualising image of Amida
Buddha, you can experience Ki change—spiritualization of the energy---and being
healthy. When you make this action, we pray for our health and increasing
spirituality, and that starvation will disappear in the world.
5 How is Tao Sangha Managed ?
The Temple committee administrates activities of
Tao Sangha. There are international and national committees. These are
structured by some of the ordinary members in the same way as the ancient
activities of Mahayana Buddhism. We are aiming to build an ultimate democratic
community network based on holding ego as a condition.
6
How is Tao Sangha Financed ?
We are supported by membership fees, a donation
system and classes. We have a regulated donation system including member
fees. Members are divided into 3 types,
which are “Goji member”, “ Devoting
member”, and Musa Boddhisatva member.
(See chapter 4). There also are some classes such as Buddha school, Sutra
study, general donation box, and the occasional Nembutsu circle.
Chapter
3: Joining and becoming a Buddha pupil.
(5)
Joining Wadaji Tao Sangha
In
primal Buddhism, a ceremony included a vow to Buddha and praying SANKIEBUN. In the Pure Land sect, their
traditional ceremony were the OKAMISORI
and KIKYOU ceremony. In Tao Sangha,
if the heart of SANPO KIKYOU and SHOKI, SYOKYU, and KOGYOU are recognized clearly, anybody can join by receiving Okamisori ceremony .
(1) SAN KI E BUN
Buddhan
Saranan Gachami : To Embrace Buddha
Dhamman
Saranan Gachami : To Embrace Dharma
Sangan
Saranan Gachami : To Embrace Sangha
(7) SHO KI, SYO KYO, and KO GYOU
SHO KI :
the place where we return
SHOKI
is Buddha, the object of worship to return to. For example, SHOKI for
Christians is Jehovah, for Islam it is Allah. As mentioned above, our principal
image of Tao Sangha is Amida Buddha the dearest Buddha in the whole universe.
Amida Buddha is the heart of all Buddhas, Bodhisattvas and Devas, and also the
center of the whole universe. Another
way of understanding is that the realization of your faith is Amida Buddha, and
also to recognize Amida Buddha’s Pure Land as the place where we die and are
re-born.
SHO KYO : the place that we seek
The
place that we seek through Nembutsu Samadhi is unification with the great love
of Amida Buddha, and a spiritual re-creation of inner Pure Land. Pure Land,
forever happiness and joy, exists in the deepest place of the inner heart. It
also exists as a real world we can experience as several sensations. Tao Sangha
ascetics will work together to awaken everyone, and to fill the world, the
universe, and all the Karmic spirits with the great love of Buddha. To be clear
with SHO KYO, the purpose of training is to be aware of receiving the great
love of Buddha for others, self, and everything.
KO GYOU : practice
Originally,
Nembutsu Samadhi is a form of practice of Mahayana Buddhism. Even now, it is
practiced in various Buddhist sects. Tao Sangha training is for spreading the
great love of Amida then to create the spiritual development and happiness of
all beings. It is called “Deep Nembutsu Eko Samadhi” To be clear with KO GYOU
is to have Tao Sangha training as the only choice to practice.
**Please be careful that even if you are aware
of the conditions to join Tao Sangha, you should respect your traditional
religions. Denying the value of another religion is not true Buddhism. Those
not willing to respect other religious traditions from their culture and
ancestors, such as Christianity or Islam, and others will not be permitted to
join Tao Sangha. Tao Sangha ascetics will deny nothing, and will be required to
follow the path of spiritual development by “Deep Nembutsu Eko Samaddhi” with
the great love of Amida Buddha. Because Amida Buddha represents all other
Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, Jehovah and all of existences under the name of the God,
and is also the source of prosperity of all, for the future, it is essential to
understand and unify with all of the different teachings.
(2)

have even and fair relationships with each other. As members have the freedom
to withdraw, please understand that in some cases members may be asked to leave
the Sangha.
Chapter
4 :Three kinds of devotion
1 How
does Tao Sangha perceive devotion ?
There are three kinds of devotion: physical,
Dharma, and financial. Physical donation
is the actual work of any part of a project. Dharma donation is a project
creation for spreading Dharma, and financial donation is the donation of money
for the project.
We will just talk about the financial way here.
Goji member ( a general member) is for enjoying
Sangha life with their enthusiasm.
Kenshin member (Devoted member) is for
expressing the way of donation followed by their own heart state.
Musa Boddhisatva club (MBC) members donate some
% of their income to the Temple.
(1) Goji
member
Paying monthly member fee
(2) Kenshin
member
Donating an amount decided by oneself every
month
(3) Boddhisatva
club member
Donating 5 to 10% of their income ( % is decided by their own Ki test )
How was the Tao Sangha donation system
started? First, Sangha members becomes a
leader of the human spiritual development with pure passion and wish the heart
of Boddhsatva as written in the sutra. The core of the wish in sangha devotion
system is for fulfilling healthy, rich and pure Ki in the world as if Amida ‘s
great love fills the whole universe by Nembutsu.
If our heart, verbalized words, and action are
actually in the same state as teachings, we unify with Dharma. We can share great love of Amida with all
being of the universe beyond time span.
It is the
ultimate wish of all of Buddhas, Boddhsatvas, and Devas, Isn’t it ?
Manifesting Tao Sangha ‘s three kinds of
devotion means entering and encountering those spiritual worlds.
2 What
kind of idea is based on devotion system?
Same way as Kenshin member’s donation actually
existed in a Nembutsu temple in Japan. This temple was a branch of St. Bennei,
and uniquely they had a place for Nembutsu, Zen, and Christian chapel in same
property, and having a wish to build a village of united religions like we
have.
Our Tao Sangha MBC members’ way is limiting
donation amount at 10% of their income. As described above, % is decided by Ki
test. Ki test tells you the best amount for your bright future, you just follow
the result. How this system was created
is explained in an essay written by founder Mr.Ryokyu Endo.
Effectiveness of donation
Think about the philosophy of UNI
currency and why the Ki of UNI currency is so pure and comfortable. In the UNI
currency, there is an automatic 10% donation included in the system.
And this is why the Ki of the UNI
is so nice.
In the UNI handbook, I explained
how quite a few rich people had been donating 10% of their income prior to
becoming rich. This custom was from Tice, and what is important is that this
custom put the Ki of richness into their subconscious, and as a result, they
became rich. More importantly, they kept this custom even after becoming rich.
The point to understand is that they were not donating because they are rich.
They were donating since they were poor, and they became rich because they were
donating regularly.
And this was what I have been doing for the last
20 years of my life. Buddhism teaches that donation will give people relief
from “attachment” (including relief from the ‘fear of money’). Donation is the first of six
basic practices, which Bodhisattva chose to do in order to reach
‘the other shore,’ Pure Land, the enlightened world. How could we imagine
Buddhist practitioners or Bodhisattva who won't donate?
Well,
anyways, what I have found from my experience was “Both!”
In other words, donating brought me relief from attachment and relief from the
fear of money, and my income started increasing after several years. It
effected me spiritually and my physical body as well, both welcome changes. As
a result 2 centers in Japan were built after many, many years of not having a
place to teach and even to treat patients. (It is hard to imagine that the
first time Alex received my treatment was in my eight-by-eight foot living
room. Mayu and I were often teaching to, Deborah, Alex, ….all those students in
our tiny living room).
What I believe is that if Tao
Sangha members will do the same, they will receive both merits. Spiritually,
relief from attachment and fear of money, and physically, their income will
ultimately increase. But before going
on, I must add that I was enjoying donating. I believe everyone will eventually
enjoy donating as well (and if not, I must say, ”what a poor mentality!”) But,
in the end, they would find joy in it, because it brings such comfortable and
light Ki. It’s such a nice feeling. Relief from attachment and fear from money
is spiritually very healthy.
As you notice through reading, Tao Sangha
founder Mr.Endo is practicing donation
to the temple. There is no one in Tao Sangha who gets paid a salary from the
temple. This is one of the features of Tao Sangha. Even a priest is on the side
of everyone else which is a MBC member.
What the Tao Sangha priest receives from Amida Buddha is a spiritual
happiness, fortunate, and joy. Those are the unmutable true treasures of life.
3 How
did we named as Musa Boddhisatva club?
Musa means not ego based action.
Let’s look in the Sutra for a definition of
Boddhisatva. It is the one who….
(1) carry
others as if carrying own load.
(2) Be
a friend even without to be asked.
(3) Make
action even with out to be asked.
(4) Look
at others as if a child looks at his parents. ( reverse from how parents look
at a child)
The heart Sutra explains Haramitta---it means
donation--- as a training to be a Buddha from Boddhisatva. The one who donates
in Tao Sangha aims to have a heart of Boddhisatva, this is our wish. This is
how Boddhsatva members were named. It doesn’t mean to feel cool because of
donating, and if we think we give some merit to Amida, that is out of the
question. Amida, as the universe itself, does not need to be donated to by any
other existence.
So, why do we donate?
Because we can receive unification with Dharma
through the action of donation.
Amida is the root of all kinds of happiness, and
an action of donation creates a
comfortable space where exchange Ki with Amida around donator.
<Regulation of MBC >
1. %(
5-10) of donation is decided by Ki test. Better checked sometimes because
nothing is permanent.
2. Better
not join until you have paid off personal debts. After they are paid off, join.
3. Hand
to the responsible person for MBC
4. This
money will be spent for spreading Nembutsu, building Sangha village, etc.
5. If
you wish to withdraw from Tao Sangha, and wish a refund, you get back 100% of
the amount that you donated.
4. How
does Buddhism perceive donation?
Donation means not only giving money or property
or any materials. It means any actions under the purpose of spreading Dharma,
for example, praise others, give a smile, if under the purpose of spreading
Dharma, it’s a donation in Buddhism. St. Honen said “ anyone who spreads
Nembutsu , you cannot spare yourself, your soul, or your property”. Therefore,
spending without sparing money for spreading Dharma is also a donation.
And, Sutra says donation has to be “
San-Rin-Sho-Jo”
<San-Rin-Sho-Jo>
(1) Purpose
of donation has to be pure ( $ for donation cannot be spent for a wicked
purpose
(2) The
ones who donate have to have a pure heart( not regretting , calculating or
afraid)
(3) $
for donation has to be pure( not from stolen money or gained on others
suffering)
Bodhisattvas realise and enlighten by 6 kind of
trainings (donation, restriction, patience, invitation of Amida, training, and
wisdom). Donation is the first one. We can interpret it as the first purpose
and basic of Mahayana Buddhism. As many of Buddha statues are smiling, so, if
we can’t give others a smile it is sure that by being stingy, we can’t
enlightened for sure.
Chapter
5 : Creating Sangha
1.What is Tao Sangha
First
of all, what is Tao?
For
example, the word tao/path is in Buddhist sutra means the way of Buddhism.
According
to St. Bennei’s teaching, Confucius teaching TENDO and Lao Zu teaching Tao is
the same thing in different name of the spirits of whole universe. Tao Sangha
is also the spirits of whole universe and Dharma.
What
is Sangha ?
There
is BU-PO-SO (Buddha / Dharma / Sangha ) in Wadaji Tao Sangha. BU is the spirits
of whole universe and Amida Buddha. PO is the truth of the universe. This
is our life's teaching and also
training. SO is Sangha. It means people who train and live in the path.
According to Mahayana Buddhism, Sangha means also all living creatures.
Therefore Tao Sangha’s Sangha means a heart ( and system )willing to share the
greatest love of Buddha to all the living creatures.
What
is a Tao Sangha gathering like? What is
the system like? It is the members themselves who are infinitely creating under
Tao heart based on the spirit of SAM-PO-KI-E ( The heart of Buddhist * see
chapter 3 SAN –KI- E -BUN), create Tao Sangha. This is as same as creation in
any art.
(6)
How Tao Sangha started
Tao
Sangha started with people who became SAMPO believers. That is people:
(8) who dream and wish for
the bright future for all humanity.
(9) who act to make these
dreams and wishes come true.
(10)who
spend their time and effort for the bright future and also have the heart to
invest their money.
As
long as there are the people who support Tao Sangha, it will continuously be
created by them.
3. What Tao Sangha Can Give to
Everybody
The
O-Ring test was invented by a Japanese cardiac surgeon in New York. It is a
famous way to check and match medicine for patients. It also applies to
checking what types of food are good for a patient to consume to become
healthy. Today, O-Ring is used in many ways.
Tao
Sangha has Ki Work, but unlike O-Ring, it is not a way to judge good and bad. Ki Work is extremely effective to know what
the future holds depending on our hearts, actions, and words. We are be able to
see what behavior and heart brings happiness to ourselves and others by Ki Work. The importance of this work is to
show how to be happy to all the people in the world.
We
believe spreading Ki Work will bring happiness to more people in the world.
(When one of every hundred human beings in the world lives a life in Ki Work,
the world will be different. ) To spread Ki Work also is to give FUSE (donation
) to all humanity. We have a wish to make a Tao Sangha Village, and to make it
possible to spread Ki work.
4. What is Sangha Village
Let’s
imagine together what Sangha Village is like. Within a huge property, there is
an organic farm with solar and wind power system. Those powers supply to the
entire village. The village has currency is called UNI that only exists in the
village. The UNI Bank is also located in many places in the village.
There
is a huge temple to practice Nembutsu, school to take Tao Shiatsu and Ki
communication training etc, and clinic to receive Tao Shiatsu treatment. In the
temple Nembutsu is practiced for 24hrs a day. Traditionally, practitioners are
replaced every two hours, so that the practice never ends. (Some temples have
been doing twenty four hour Nembutsu for several hundred years. ) The village
has residential houses and guest houses. The guest houses are for people who
come to the village to receive a treatment or for other healing purposes. We
provide a place to practice for people who wish to practice Nembutsu and
Buddhism seriously. Also it can be a space for the teens that have difficulty
to live with their parents. Everybody who wishes to study intensive Tao
Shiatsu, KISHINDO, and communication training or to receive treatment for long
period’s time would also be welcome to stay. This village has no group
awareness, narcissism, or masochism. People in the village will have training
with joy and humor and expand Buddha nature and FUSE heart in any moment.
8. Is Making Tao Sangha Village Possible
Do
you think it is possible? If so, how would it be possible? Would you wait until
someone donates the money or gives you land? If we think like the last question,
we are no different than a hungry ghost. So what makes the dream come true?
For
example, let’s think about what the roles are in Tao Shiatsu treatment. The
treatment doesn’t exist just for the practitioners to make a living. Making a
living is just one of the results. The true purpose of Tao Shiatsu is to
increase everyone’s Tao heart through Buddhist teaching. Therefore it is to
support activities in the Tao Sangha temple.
Every
country needs a Sangha village. The village should be made in every country. As mentioned earlier, no need to expect
someday somebody from somewhere will make the village. Making the Sangha
village, begins with donations from the members themselves. This way of
thinking started the Tao Sangha FUSE/donation system. If not so, all the gods
from the above will say “ How do they think they can make the village a
reality!? They talk about Tao heart, but they are just cheap! “
The
village must be made for all living creatures. Even the completion of only one
Turkish rug will take lacing over many generations. The village is a project
for the past, present, and future of all living creatures. When this becomes a
reality, our ancestors, children and grand children will all share the merit.

What Activity Can Create Tao Sangha
Tao
Sangha activity is divided to GUTSU creation and SAMU (related work of GUTSU).
GUTSU creation is a project to spread Dharma teaching. For example, UNI is also
the Sangha creation activity. This activity is to spread the heart of Sangha
through aid projects. Same as the Nembutsu Sangha voice. it is to spread though
song/pray. And of course, there are environmental design, web and advertising
production, issuing web magazine, Buddha school, Ki and Happiness workshop and
other workshops. They are all Sangha creation. The members who are responsible
for Sangha projects are called GUTSU creators. On the other hand, SAMU is to
maintain various routine works and support activities. It includes cleaning and
preparing live Sutra study.
As
mentioned earlier, FUSE has ZAISE (financial), SHINSE (physical), and HO-SE
(Dharma). Importance of any of FUSE is the to wish to share the greatest love
of Amida Buddha with others. It’s not
cold obligation, but warmth. We believe that actions that come from your wish
and warmth will give richness to all.
