「イベントの疲れは取れましたか？」というメールをイタリアで受け取り、思わず机からずり落ちそうになってしまった。
イタリアでのこちらは、大変な重圧を感じる中で代替医療のイベントが始まるところだったからである。
タイ経由でベローナにやっと着いて、午前中は、湖畔のホテルで朝食をゆっくりと頂いた。
しかし優雅な時間は、そこまで。
午後からは、もうイベントの準備に取りかからなければならなかった。
金土日と３日間続くこのイベントでは、手技療法やヨガ、アユルベーダ（インドの伝統的な薬草医学）の他、様々なヒーリンググッズが展示販売を行う。
伝統的な建物に、庭まである広い会場で行われる、フェスティバルなのだ。
その中で、タオ指圧イタリアは、チャリティ施術を行う部屋を一つ取るだけでない。
ガーデンでは日に何度も治療デモンストレーションを行う他、日曜日には２時間半の無料ワークショップまでこなさなくてはならない。
フェスでもけっこう重要な位置を占めているのである。
チャリティ施術には、ローマから絹子さんや野宮さんがサポートに来るだけでなく、オーストリアからもアルフレッドやオリバーも応援にやって来る。総勢で１３人だ。
「準備でごった返す会場」
施術の部屋については、まゆさんに任せることができる。
しかし治療デモンストレーションやワークショップは、僕がやることになっている。（イベントのパンフレットに、名前まで書いてあるんですよ?。）
治療デモンストレーションというのは何かというと、「どこか痛みなどの症状がある人はいませんか？」と会場で呼びかけて、出てきた人の症状を数分の治療で取っていくというものだ。
やる前は、“一体、治んなかったらどうすんだよ。恥かくだけじゃねーか”と、実は内心自分にぼやきながらの技である。
しかも会場では、「痛みなどの症状がある人は集まって下さい。日本から来たマエストロ遠藤喨及が、タオ指圧でどのように症状が取れるかの治療デモンストレーションを行います」などと、毎回放送までされてしまう。
そんなのを３日間で６回もこなさなくてはならない。しかも２時間３０分のワークショップまであるというのだから、”ああ、無情！”。重圧以外何ものでもないのである。（リングに上がる前のボクサーとまでは言わないけどさ。うぅっ。）
そんな”ああ、どうしよう～。早くモードを切り替えなきゃ”なんて内心思っている中で、「イベントの疲れは取れましたか?？」なんていうメールをもらったので、ものの見事にずっこけたのであった。
そう言えば何日か前に、京都でUNIチャリティイベントなんていうものがあったんだっけ？。

イタリアの代替医療イベントが始まる前のミーティングで僕は提案した。
「施術を受けに来た全員に、症状が取れた状態で帰ってもらうことにしましょう。そしてタオ指圧が、どんなに他の療法とは異なり、治療効果のあるものであるかを、はっきりと体験してもらいましょう。」
このため、全体の施術の時間は４５分。前半と後半を二人で行う。すなわち、基本手技スタッフは２０分で終え、その後は、症状を取る治療専門スタッフに任せる、という体制にしたのである。
治療専門スタッフは、ロリダナ、アルフレッド、オリバーといった面々。いずれもタオ療法の治療者である。また彼らは、プライベートな生活よりも、仏道の弘通を人生の根本目的として置いている。
実はタオ療法の劇的な治療効果は、そんな生き方から生まれるのだ。もっとも、こればかりは、実際にその心境になってみないとピンと来ないことなので、説明の仕様がないのだけれど。
受付や来訪者への説明は、アントニオ、アンドレア、アレキサンドラ、ダビテなどが行う。
僕が彼らに、「この部屋に来た人は、どんな人でも温かく迎えられるようにして下さい。その人が施術を受ける受けないに関わらず、“タオサンガの部屋で、自分は大切な存在として扱ってもらった”という気持だけは、必ず持って帰ってもらうように」と、必死で強く訴えた。
これは、僕はどこのセンターでも、いつも気にしていることだ。人が集まると、仲間内だけで話してしまうことがある。あるいは、自分が話している相手だけにしか、気を向けなかったりしがちだ。
僕は、センターに初めて来た人が、少しでも気遣われなかったり、また、大切に扱われなかったりするのを見たりしたら、本当につらく悲しい気持になるのだ。
さて、まゆさんには、治療専門スタッフだけでなく、部屋全体の采配を頼んだ。僕は僕で、治療デモンストレーションの一回一回をこなしていかなくてはならない。
三日目は、何と、ワークショップと治療デモンストレーションの時間が３０分重なっている、、、。どうしよう？ 僕は、１１時４０分から２時までワークショップをやっている。しかし治療デモンストレーションは、１時半から始まるのだ。
そこで、一計を案じた。まず、何人かのイタリア人スタッフで、１時半からの治療デモンストレーション見学者たちを相手に、気のテストなどをやっていてもらう。
２時にワークショップを終えた僕は、すぐに中庭にかけつけ、２時半まで３０分の治療デモンストレーションを行う、という段取りである。休めんな〜、などとは言っていられない。
イベントは、金曜日こそ２時から始まるというものの、土日は１０時から始まり、終わるのは何と夜の９時だ。ヨーロッパの夏は、８時でもまだ明るい。だから、まあこんなものか。夏のヨーロッパは、１日が長い。

イベントの三日間は、まさに疾風怒濤だった。
タオ指圧の専用ルームは、いつも受療者で混み合っていた。
受療者全員が、タオ指圧によって必ず症状が取れるという体験をしてもらう方針で臨んだ結果は、思った以上だった。
“ミラクル！”（奇跡だ！）とかの様々な賛嘆が患者さん達の口から漏れたそうだ。
部屋全体に喜びと驚きの“気”が 満ちていた。
施術費は定めなかった代わりに寄付箱を置き、「全額東北被災者の支援のために使います」とだけしたためた。そんなタオ指圧イタリアの心意気が来訪者にも伝わったのだろう。部屋には明るく温かい気が漂っており、それが僕を幸せな気分にした。
一方、治療デモンストレーションやワークショップも思った以上にうまく行き、僕はホッと胸をなで降ろすことができた。
しかし今回のイベントで、僕が本当に驚いたことは別のことだった。
それは、集まったメンバーの全員が、何一つ自分の利益を求めて参加していなかったことだ。
彼らは三日間というもの、朝９時から夜の９時まで、まるで休むことなく献身的に、それこそ汗水垂らしてワークに従事した。
ここまで無私無欲の行為を、忍耐強く一日中続ける彼らの謙虚な姿を見て、“やっとタオ指圧に、このような生き方をする人たちが集まって来るようになったのだ”と、僕は深い感動ともに思ったのだった。
タオ指圧の、これまでの長い長い道のりを思うと、僕はそう考えずにはおれなかったのだ。 さて、三日間のワークを終えたタオ指圧ルームで、輪になって一人づつ感想を述べ合った。
その時、ダビテという人が語った。
“このイベントには数多くのブースが出店していましたが、ほとんどがビジネスのためでした。しかしタオ指圧だけは違った。私利私欲がなく、何—つビジネスの匂いがしなかった。私はそれが本当に素晴らしいと思ったし、来訪者の皆さんも、それを感じたのではないでしょうか”
またローマから応援に来た野宮さんは、“今まで自分は、痛みの２、３割も取れたら良しとしてしまっていました。
けれども、そうではなかった。タオ指圧では、一回の施術で、ちゃんと症状が取れるということが体験できて良かった”と述べた。
アルフレッドは、“イベントでのタオ指圧ルームに、間違いなく、阿弥陀如来が臨在されているのを感じた”と語った。
さすがは、ウィーン阿弥陀センター代表の発言である。
そして僕の番になった。
「今、野宮さんが語られたように、タオ指圧で症状が取れることは当たり前のことなんです。何と言っても、患者さんの潜在意識に働きかけるのがタオ指圧なんですから。
でもタオ指圧臨床の真の目的は、症状が取れるという、そんな“タオ指圧にとって当たり前のこと”にあるのではありません。実は、真のタオ指圧の目的は、受け手の運命を良きものに変えることなのです。 そして、そんなことすら可能となる治療家になるカギはどこにあるのか？ それは今、アルフレッドが述べたことと関係する、念仏修行なんです。」
こんなこと、知らない人もきっと多いことだろう。
これらのことは、今後もっと明らかにして行かなければならないな、と思った。

Event in Italy
(in English translation)
These 3 days….. was very much intense. Our Tao Shiatsu room was always full of people who wanted to have a treatment. I suggested to practitioners that all patients who come here in these 3 days shall not leave the room without pain taking away (incase if they have had). Therefore we prepared two practitioners for each patient. (who gives basic form and who treat tsubo to take their symptoms away.
And what happened here was more than I expected. People expressed admiration for how they felt after a treatment here, there, and everywhere. .Some was saying “Miracle!”
The room was fulfilled with the Ki of amazement and happiness. We didn’t decide an amount to charge; instead, we just placed a box with the message, “ All donations for treatment will be sent to help Japanese disaster refuges.” I believe our wish in that message went in people’s heart, and that may be a cause of the great warm and bright Ki that filled the whole room through the event. And this gave me happy feeling.
Besides that, both the demo and workshop also went well more than I imagined. But what I really made me feel happy was that all the members who participated in this event never even imagine their own merit in all possible aspects. What amazed me was that they were devoting to Tao in these 3 days starting 9:00am until 9:00pm each day. I was moved and felt grateful about the changes of the time age that Tao Shiatsu finally starts having those kinds of people as members. It was a long journey until this situation comes.
After everything was done, we made a circle, and each member commented about the past 3 days. One member said, “All other participants in this event are here for their businesses, but Tao Shiatsu were not. There was no self desire and I think this is beautiful, and I also think people subconsciously felt this way.” And other member said, “In my clinic if 20-30% of symptoms are taken away in one treatment, I was kind of satisfied with the result. But I realized that Tao Shiatsu can take away 100% of the pain in one time, and I’ll never forget this experience.” And Alfred, who is a leader of Amida Center Austria Sangha, said, “I felt presence of Amida Buddha in the Tao Shiatsu room through the whole 3 days.”
And, my turn came.
“Disappearance of symptoms is no doubt and quite obvious for Tao Shiatsu. Because Tao Shiatsu heals subconscious of the patient.
But real purpose of Tao Shiatsu is not there, it’s much more than that.
Well, real purpose of Tao Shiatsu is to change destiny of the patient’s life in a better way.
And what is a clue to become such a practitioner who can change patient’s destiny?
It is Nembutsu practice.
Maybe people are not aware of this,
“What real purpose of Tao Shiatsu is”.
For Tao Shiatsu, Take away symptom is “of course!”.
And change a destiny of the patient, to “more fortunate ”, is the real purpose.
I realized that I must make these things more clear.

イタリア代替医療大会レポート [2011.07.11]
＜海外レポート＞ イタリア代替医療大会 “チェアリッシマ・フェスティバル”に参加して

●日本ではあり得ないイベント
現地のベローナ近郊で５月２７日から３日間にわたって行われる大会の準備を手伝いながら、僕が最初に思ったことは「日本でこんなことは、まずあり得ないだろうな」ということである。
まず、半年ほど前のことから始めよう。タオ指圧イタリア代表のロリダナ・バッジから、「代替医療 （Alternative Medicine）のフェスに出展したいのだけど……」と相談を受けた。僕は「皆さんのためになるなら」と一も二もなく賛成し「何なら応援に行くから」とも伝えたのだった。
それにしても代替医療というのは、自分にはしっくり来ない言葉である。“Alternative Medicine ”とは、西洋医学に替わる医療法ということ。また代替とは、西洋医学を補完するという意味もあるのだろう。しかし、無理やり翻訳して創り上げた言葉のように思えてならない。
というのは、僕自身は、東洋医学が苦手とする救急医療などを補完するのが西洋医学である。本来ならば東洋医学だけで事足りると思っている。代替という言葉の中に含まれている、あくまでも西洋医学を主流とする現在の風潮が、残念でならないぐらいである。
それはともかく、タオ指圧イタリアの準備を手伝いながら、他の出展ブースを見て回って驚いた。「それにしても、一体これは何なんだろう？」とまで思った。代替医療というからには、僕はてっきり鍼灸や漢方、その他、手技療法などのブースが並ぶのだとばかり思っていたからだ。
100あまりあるブースのなかで、目立って多かったのはニューエイジ系のものだった
指圧は、タオ指圧の他にも他流派のものが２つほどあった。またカイロプラクティックやオステオパシーのようなものもあった。“JINSHIN-DO(じんじんどう=漢字は不明)”なる療術もあった。
また、漢方こそなかったが、ホメオパシー（ドイツで生まれた比較的歴史のある同種療法）やインドの伝統的な薬草医学であるアーユルベーダがあった。ヨガがあるのも、まあわかる。
しかし、全部で１００余りもあるブースで、それらのような伝統的な医療はむしろ少ない。多くは、ヒーリンググッズなどのニューエイジ系のものが圧倒的に多く、そのことに驚いたのである。
要するに日本では漢方などの伝統的な東洋医学と、パワーストーンなどのニューエイジ系のヒーリング・グッズとでは、どこか目の見えない暗黙の線引きがある。しかしここヨーロッパでは、非西洋医学のそれらは、すべて一括りに代替医療とされてしまうようだ。先の「日 本ではあり得ないだろうな」と僕が思ったのはこの点にあった。
鍼もまた日本とは異なり、イタリアでは西洋医の資格がないと（あるいは西洋医の指導の元でないと）臨床できないそうだ。しかし、これもまた善し悪しではないだろうか？
というのは、西洋医学の訓練を受けただけで、経穴も知らず虚実もわからない人が鍼を刺すことなど、むしろ僕には考えられない。虚の経絡に瀉法の鍼を施したらどうなるかを考えたら、とても恐ろしい気がする。
●イベントでの役割
本大会でタオ指圧イタリアは、思ったより重要な役割を与えられていた。数名が施術し、また説明するために専用の部屋が１つ用意されていた。

さらにパンフレットを見て驚いたのだが、中庭では僕が、３日間で計６回の治療デモンストレーションを行うことになっている。その他、小講堂で２時間半のワークショップまで行うことになっているのだ。
ロリダナはちゃんと前から電話で説明してくれていたようだが、どうやら多忙にまぎれて、僕は聞き流してしまっていたらしい。僕は、応援サポーターといった程度の気楽な気持ちで来たのだが、とたんに緊張し始めた。
というのは、治療デモンストレーションというのは、「誰か痛みなどの症状がある人はいませんか？」と会場で呼びかける。そして、出て来た人に経絡診断し、虚実の状態などを説明しながら１０分程度の経絡治療で症状を取り去るというものである。
う まく行けば、「さすがは日本から来たマエストロ遠藤！ ブラボータオ指圧！」などと言われ、ホッと面目をほどこすかも知れない。しかしこれは「治らなかった らどうしよう……？」という不安と抱き合わせの行為である。こんなのを３日間で６回もやるのかと思うと、一瞬ストレスでくじけそうになった。だが、まあ やるしかない。
●タオ指圧専用ルーム
タオ指圧専用ルームで、常時施術を行うのは３名だ。しかし、会場を回る係や受付や説明係、またデモンストレーションのアシスタントなども含めて様々な仕事がある。
ま たタオ指圧イタリアでは、今回のイベントで患者さんたちからいただいた施術費は、すべて東北大震災の被災者支援のために寄付するという。タオ指圧では気仙沼の避難所に定期的に様々な救援物資を送っているが、日本人の僕にしてみたら、タオ指圧イタリアの皆の心遣いは涙が出るほどありがたく感じるものだった。
イ ベントのために集まったタオ指圧の総勢１５人は、ここベローナのメンバーだけではない。ローマからは野宮さんや三浦絹子さんという日本人メンバーもいる し、オーストリアからもアルフレッドとオリバーという２人のタオ指圧治療者が、応援に駆けつけている。日本からは、僕と遠藤磨祐の２人である。
開催直前のミーティングで僕は皆さんに提案した。
「受付では、必ず痛みやコリなどの症状を聞いてよく確認して下さい。全体の施術は４５分ですが、基本手技の係と経絡治療を行う係とに分けましょう。治療係のス タッフは、必ず症状を取るように。受療した患者さん全員が、症状が取れた状態で帰ってもらいましょう。そして他の療法との違いを、はっきりと実感してもら うようにしましょう」
タオ指圧専用の部屋での施術風景
●皆で心をーつにしてワーク
ヨーロッパの夏は長い。八時でもまだ明るい。だから朝１０時から始まるイベントでも終了時間は８時である。総勢１５名のタオ指圧イタリアを中心としたこのグループは、日本人の僕が感心するほど、三日間休むことなく働き続けた。そしてみんな陽気で明るかった。
僕も毎回、一抹の不安を隠し持ちながらも、使命感に支えられて、１回また１回と治療デモンストレーションをこなして行った。
そして、膝を痛めていたおじさんは、驚きと共に治った喜びで足を伸ばし、満面の笑顔で帰って行った。また、２５年続いていた腰の痛みが取れたという妙齢の女性は、何度も“グラッチェ！”（ありがとう）を繰り返してくれた。
そんな受療者の反応を見て、見学者から拍手が沸き上がるたびに、僕は内心、ホッと一息つくのだった。
タオ指圧施術ルームもまた同様だったようだ。受療された人は皆、症状が取れて行ったそうで、部屋全体が驚きや喜びに溢れていた。また被災者支援のためのというメッセージも伝わったのだろう。部屋の中に温かさのようなものが漂っていて、それが僕を幸せな気持ちにした。
タ オ指圧イタリアを応援するため、ローマやオーストリアなどの遠方から駆けつけたメンバーも含めて、みんなで懸命に働いた。そして３日間、みんなで楽しく家 族のように過ごすことができた。それは、ビジネスが何ひとつ関わらない利他の行為を、皆が心を１つにして行ったからかも知れない、と思った。
●ヨーロッパから東北被災者のための支援金
つい２カ月前も、僕はオーストリアのメンバーから、みんなで募金までして集めてくれた震災被災者への支援金、約３０００ユーロ（約３５万円）を持って帰国した。そしてタオ指圧併設のNPOユニは、そのお金で１０台の洗濯機を気仙沼の７つの避難所に寄付したのだった。
今回僕は、このイベントでの収益も含めた、新たな支援金５０００ユーロ（約５５万円）を持って帰国する。
実は、避難所では深刻な野菜不足が続いており、これから夏場にかけて冷蔵庫なども必要だ。メディアの被災地情報は随分と減ってしまったが、避難所生活の実状は、今も尚、われわれの想像以上に厳しいものがあるのが現実だ。
タオ指圧ヨーロッパの皆の想いがこもった、この温かい支援金は、今も避難所生活を余儀なくされている人々のために使われることになる。
