Job Opportunity: Junior Safari Guide at Thomson Safaris Ltd, Arusha.

 

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Junior Safari Guide to join our team.

 

Key Responsibilities:

1.       Provide guests with informative and engaging interpretations of wildlife, Tanzanian history, culture, geology, birds, trees, plants, and other natural resources.

2.       Lead engaging and informative game drives and bush walk, ensuring guests’ safety and providing a memorable experience.

3.       Clearly communicate information to guests in an engaging and professional manner.

4.       Work closely with Senior guides, learning from their expertise and contributing during team briefings.

5.       Works closely with Safari Operations and Thomson Safari’s main workshop on accurately reporting any problems and faults with the vehicle as well as keeping tight records regarding fuel usage, vehicle kilometers logbooks, and vehicle maintenance books.

6.       Conduct regular vehicle inspections, making sure that the  Safari vehicle is always in excellent working condition and ready for safari.

7.       Adhere to all park regulations and safety protocols to ensure the well-being of guests and wildlife.

8.       Monitor the behavior of the group, especially when young children are in it and ensure everyone remains in compliance with the rules.

9.       Collaborate with camp staff to ensure seamless guest experience and accommodate special requests or needs.

 

Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Minimum 3 years of work experience as a Safari Guide in the Hospitality industry.
  2. Registered with active license from the relevant board.
  3. Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  4. Demonstrated ability to multitask with strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills.
  5. Commitment to delivering high-level customer service.
  6. Ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion.
  7. Qualification in Wildlife Management from an accredited higher learning institution; a university degree in a related field is an added advantage.
  8. Mechanical knowledge and a certificate from a recognized institution are an advantage.
  9. Clean Class ‘C’ driving license.
  10. Familiarity with Tanzania National Parks and relevant park rules.
  11. Extensive knowledge of wildlife, ecosystems, and safari practices, with a demonstrated ability to interpret these to guests.
  12. Good physical fitness to manage the demands of safari guiding and the physical condition of the park.
