Vacancy Announcement: Project Officer

Duty Station: Arusha
Contract Type: Full-time, project duration
Reports to: Programme Coordinator
Application Deadline: 8th January 2026 (by 2pm)

 

Project Background

This project aims to reduce land-related conflicts and strengthen knowledge of land rights among pastoralist and farming communities in the arid areas of Arusha region.

 

Position Summary

The Project Officer will be responsible for implementing and monitoring project activities in the target areas as well as fundraising efforts. The role requires close collaboration with local communities, government authorities, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to ensure effective delivery of project objectives.

 

Qualifications and Experience

 

  • Education: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, Land Management, Law, Environmental Sciences or related field.

 

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3–5 years of professional experience in project implementation in peacebuilding, land rights, and conflict resolution
    • Knowledge of land governance frameworks and pastoralist-farmer dynamics in Tanzania.
    • Proven experience working with pastoralist and farming communities in Tanzania, especially in the Arusha Region.
    • Strong background in facilitating community dialogues, mediation, and participatory approaches. Skills in conflict resolution, peacebuilding methodologies, and social cohesion initiatives.
    • Experience in collaborating with local government structures and traditional leadership.
    • Monitoring and evaluation (M&E) skills, including data collection and reporting.
    • Fluency in English and Kiswahili; knowledge of Maa language is an asset.
