A hotel in Arusha town is looking to recruit the following;

1.    Pastry chef

Duties and Responsibilities;

·         Preparing a wide variety of pastries, cakes, bread etc. following traditional and modern recipes

·         Creating new and exciting desserts to renew our menus and engage the interest of customers

·         Ability to do a variety of pastries which include cakes, pies, croissants, meat pies, chicken pies, quiches, tarts, doughnuts, muffins, samosas etc.

  • The ability to decorate pastries and cakes using different icings, toppings etc

·         Monitor stocks for baking ingredients such as flour, sugar etc. and make appropriate orders within budget

·         Maintain a lean and orderly cooking station and adhere to health and safety standards

Requirements;

·         Proven experience as Pastry Chef, baker or relevant role

·         Great attention to detail and creativity

·         Organizing and leadership skills

·         Willingness to replenish professional knowledge

·         In depth knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation and baking techniques and nutrition

·         Working knowledge of baking with ingredient limitations (pastries that are gluten free, sugarless etc.)

·         Certificate in culinary arts, pastry-making, baking or relevant field

·         Flexible with shifts

 

2.    Hot Kitchen Chef

Duties and Responsibilities;

  • Prepare a wide variety of goods following traditional and modern recipes.
  • Understand visitors’ preferences and make suggestions based on findings.
  • Assist the head chef in coordinating the entire kitchen operation, stewarding, cooks/ prep cooks and the pass during scheduled shifts.
  • Set up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment.
  • Prepare ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat
  • Ensure great presentations by dressing dishes before they are served.
  • Check the quality of the material and condition of equipment and devices used for cooking.
  • Maintain a lean and orderly cooking station and adhere to health & safety standards.
  • Keeps the head chef fully informed of all rising issues, unusual matters of significance, promptly taking corrective actions where necessary.

Requirements;

• Leadership skills

• Ability to work well under pressure and time constraints

• Creativity to create dishes on brand with the hotel

• Knowledge of different varieties of foods and ingredients

• Ability to maintain an extremely sanitary environment while working

• Communication skills
