Adharshila Learning Centre
Once again it is time to share with friends the year that was at
Adharshila – a small effort to bring change in the field of education,
quietly but surely.
A lot seems to be changing in the world of education, especially if
you read the glossies and English newspapers and know of the
innumerable NGOs and corporates working overtime to school the
children of India. But people who live in villages know that very
little is actually changing for the better, if at all. Those who get
to colleges start realizing that they were shown a false dream and
their 12 years in school have not made them fit to earn a livelihood.
It has made them fit only for more study.
At Adharshila we are trying to think about and engage young adults in
thinking about education to give livelihood options while also
instilling progressive, democratic and secular values and a love for
humanity and nature.
But of course most of the time is spent in thinking about the main
course on the menu i.e. reading, writing, math, knowing about our
surroundings and the world and playing and having fun while the world
worries about climate change.
We are extremely grateful for your support and belief in Adharshila’s
worth. We hope we keep getting your love and support in the future to
help adivasi children stand up to this world.
