Dear Friends,

Zindabad and a very belated but Happy Diwali.

Once again, Christmas and the New Year are approaching. The children are gearing up to make new greeting cards as part of their craft activities.  Craft is vital to the Adharshila learning curriculum. We strongly believe that working with our hands and producing something is a very satisfying and creative learning experience. Creativity is a central idea that we would like to promote in our learning programme.  In addition, crafts contribute to the development of the brain.  It is this belief in working with the hand that keeps us at these little activities like making cards, weaving, farming and others.

Many have told us that in this electronic age, greeting cards sent by snail mail are outdated.  However, we feel as though there is something special about receiving a handmade greeting. It shows that you really care.

The greeting cards are blank so that they can be used for any occasion.  Some sample photos of the cards have been attached in the email.

The funds raised through the sale of these cards are used for educational tours.  Past tours have included visiting an organic farm, another NGO and the seacoast.  The children just love to travel.

So once again we appeal to you, not just to help raise resources for the children's educational tour but also to promote craft and keep the hand from becoming obsolete.

If you or anyone you know would like to help the cause by buying greeting cards made by children, then please let us know at the earliest and feel free to forward this email.  We thank you
very much and wish you a very happy holidays.

Sincerely,
Amit and Jayshree
on behalf of the
Adharshila Learning Centre Team and Children
