You can have multiple Firefox programs installed in different locations. To start the Profile Manager for a specific Firefox installation, replace firefox.exe in the above instructions with the full path to the Firefox program, enclose that line in quotes, then add a space followed by -P.

I have FireFox 99.0 and it seems that 1Password is not letting me use the password manager in FireFox. I do keep a handful of passwords in FireFox, although the vast majority of my passwords are in 1Password.

I completely understand where you're coming from on this. When you install the 1Password browser extension, it basically takes over as the active password manager by default. While it can sometimes be difficult to 'juggle' more than one password manager, everyone has their own personal workflow, and we certainly respect that.

Ok. I have now solved this. I first disabled 'update.exe' in 'Startup' tab of task manager and then I deleted the entire folder that it was in. After rebooting there is no problem now.Thank you jscher2000 for the command line tip as it led me to where I could and eliminate the problem.

hello trader4300, this sounds like the files in your profile folder that store the information about your extensions might have become corrupted. please g to firefox > help > troubleshooting information > profile - show folder... then windows explorer should open up your profile folder. in there look for the files named extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite, extensions.sqlite-journal (and in some cases also extensions.txt, extensions.rdf). delete or rename those files and quit firefox, they will be regenerated the next time you launch firefox.

Linux: Check your user manual. If you installed Firefox with the distro-based packagemanager, you should use the same way to uninstall it.See Install Firefox on Linux; -US/kb/install-firefox-linux

Unlike a traditional password manager, Firefox Lockbox is a simple app that gives easy access to the passwords you have already stored in your Firefox browser. No extra set-up necessary. This makes Firefox Lockbox the perfect solution for people who want to secure their personal information, but may not have time (or the recall) to choose and transfer all of their passwords into a password manager.

I'm having the same issue described in this thread: -US/questions/1147868 and have tried the recommended fix. I have changed the setting reccommended in about:config to false, but about:support still shows 1/1 for multiprocess windows, and I have 6 instances of Firefox running in the process manager (screenshot shows 5, but it has been as many as 7 at once).

I cannot get my firefox shortcuts to go directly to the profile manager anymore. I don't know why. I know I have set the target up correctly in properties but it still will not go to the profile manger. Please help.

You may find a simple -P works. In Linux the argument is -ProfileManger not -profilemanagerI am not certain if Firefox on Windows is case sensitive for this but worth trying with a capital P and a capital M

I am able to open profile manager as long as all firefox windows and profiles are closed. What I can't do and what I used to be able to do is have multiple profiles open at one single time. Firefox will not let me do that now. If one profile is open and I click to open another profile it will automatically open up in the already open profile. I want multiple profiles open at the same time. I could do that before the upgrade.

How do you add -no remote to the additional profiles? I have always had it set up where the profile manager opens and I select which profile I want to open. If there is a firefox window of any kind open I cannot open any other profile except for that one. I won't even be prompted to open the profile manager. The setup I have now is the same setup I had before the upgrade. Since the upgrade I am not able to open the profile manager as long as there is a firefox window open. I have the "don't ask at startup" option unchecked.

I figured it out. It's not that you need -no-remote on each individual profile, you need -no-remote on the one single shortcut so that shortcut will always open profile manager. It is -P "profilemanager" -no-remote

I can't get Firefox to open a window. I've tried firefox -p (profile manager) and firefox -safe (safe mode), but nothing works to open a window. I've uninstalled and reinstalled, but that doesn't fix anything. I haven't changed anything recently, so possibly there was an update(?) Here's what's happening:

After about a minute, the additional Firefox tasks (the 4k ones) start closing 1 by 1. I'm now down to just 2 Firefox processes, using 32k and 4k memory, respectively. As far as I can tell, these processes last forever, until I close them manually. If I run Firefox again without closing the current processes, it creates another 4k process, which eventually closes by itself. If I close all the processes manually, I can start over from scratch. During all this, Firefox never opens a window, or gives any indication that it's running, except for processes listed in task manager.

I have been using firefox with no issues, now Firefox won't start, it temporarily shows up in Windows Task Manager, then disappears. I have tried starting in Firefox safe mode, this makes no difference, however Firefox will start in Windows safe mode.

I just upgraded my OS. The upgrade included Firefox v60.0 which replaces the window manager, which I find unacceptable. Not only is this highly irritating because I use the 'Close' button on the left (and Firefox has it on the right) it also messes up the appearance (colours, transparency, icons, etc.) but also removes some of the window manager's functionality (shade, focus model, keyboard shortcuts, etc.).

Few servers inspect the HTTP headers for the referrers, and block if the referrer is not a browser. I guess while transferring the download, the header gets mangled and the referrer becomes the download manager, instead of the browser.

That's become the download links are autogenerated, are valid particular combination of parameters ( perhaps some session id ? I'm not sure), and are not persistent. Once the control of the download has been handed over to the browser, the links expire, and hence you get the error message. My suggestion: Try IDM. It's one of the better download managers that I've used. If the problem still persists, my suggestion is to use an alternative link to download, or maybe switch to a wired connection while downloading.

And as pointed out by others, Firefox can and does resume downloads. However, resuming a download just means asking the server to continue sending data. If the server refuses, there's nothing FF (or any download manager) can do. In your case, the site probably provides download links which are only valid for a certain time. By the time the connection fails and you try to restart, the link has expired, hence the download cannot resume. So, definitely a problem with the site.

I have also had problems with the Firefox and the turbobit website. They are both responsible. GetRight is the best download manager I have used and suspect it would solve your problem. It can not only resume from any website but download the same file from multiple sources at once for faster speed (similar to a torrent client). The downside of GetRight is you have to put up with nag pop-ups or pay for it, but for what it can do I'd say it's worth it.

task manager keeps saying i have multiple firefox tabs open but i only have one open. I also tried doing this -US/questions/1193404 (disable e10s/multiprocess) but nothing changed. is this normal ? I mean should I be worried? it is using quite of my RAM so im just a bit worried that I might have downloaded something from the net that is causing this. im using windows 10 btw.

hi Pkshadow. i have turned this off because when i googled my problem (i used the title of this topic on google) it showed me the link from mozilla support about disable e10s/multiprocess. before i turned it off i also i read some topic starter that are having same issue as mine where only one tab is open but it is showing 2 or more tabs opened on task manager. so i thought we are having the same problem.

I was looking over Chrome and the task manager feature and really wishing something like this was in Firefox (as i have lots of addons [probably too many] and lots of tabs open). I looked for an addon or something but perhaps I have missed something? Anyone know of something like Chrome's task manager but for FF?

I have windows 7 SP1 64 bite and when I opened it I was looking at the task manager where it shows 4 foxfire.exe *32 and its using 38% of my memory. I have no experience with this kind of thing but I don't think I should have 4 of these showing up in applications. Please, I am a senior who depends on this computer for so many things and I will sincerely appreciate your time and your help.
