Matthew and Mira: Argentine Tango Classes
Due to popular demand, there will be a series of 6 advanced classes
focusing on proper technique for advanced moves and musical
expression. Topics will include: release and expression of the free
leg, technique and adornos for leaders and followers, rotation in
advanced steps, improvisation, musicality, and much more. Partners not
necessary. Participants are invited to stay and help with the
introductory class at no charge.
AThere will also be an Introduction to Tango series for new dancers to
get geared up for the International Tango Festival in June. If you can
walk, you can dance tango. This series is designed to give you a good
start dancing tango that will provide a foundation of understanding
that will stay with you as you advance to more complicated moves.
Partners not necessary. Leather soled shoes will help. Followers might
like to wear high heels that don't fall off.
Advanced Class:
Technique and Expression 2:30-3:30pm
Beginning Class:
Introduction to Tango 3:30-4:30pm
Práctica:
Relaxed practice time 4:30-7pm
Saturdays May 11, 18, 25, June 1, 8, 15
$75 series of 6 classes, or $15 per class. Práctica $8 but free for
class participants. Level 1, 22 Webb St.

Friday fortnightly milongas and fortnightly practicas alternating,
Milongas all at Irish Club 8:30pm - 11pm Next 17th May.
Saturday Practicas have beginners class at the beginning of the
Practica 6pm - 9pm Full Swing Studios (none on October 26th or
November 9th)

The venue & cost for the Newtown Milongas has changed to Te Whaea:
National Dance & Drama Centre, at 11 Hutchison Road Newtown, start
times remain the same the price is $10 per person. Starting this
Saturday night 11 May at 7.30pm to 10.30pm.

Tango School in Buenos Aires Wanted.
Can anyone who has recently visited Buenos Aires recommend a good
tango school there. I have a friend new to tango who wants to travel
there and take tango to a higher level. She is a single girl
travelling by herself. Does anyone have a recommendation for
accommodation and classes.
Someone has mentioned the Mariposita School. Has anyone been there.
