Hello all
Alan Lee is known to most of you; he came here to work for Weta on the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit movies, and has been a very popular and generous member of our tango community for quite a few years now. Unfortunately for us, his stay in New Zealand is soon coming to an end, and he'll be on his way back to England in March.
Some of us got together and decided we would like to do something for Alan before he leaves; it would be a chance for us to thank him for his contribution to local tango, to wish him well for the future, and maybe to have one last dance with him! We know Alan enjoys going out for dinner and dancing tango, so we thought a dine and dance would work well. You all know how quiet and unassuming a chap Alan is, and how he hates a fuss, so we will have to keep it very *secret squirrel* and surprise him on the night. So we're asking that you tell everyone you know to come, but do NOT tell Alan!! ;-)
We've looked at a few venues and the most promising is Veni Vidi Vici in Cuba Street.
If we can confirm 50 people will come for dinner, we can have the whole place to ourselves on the evening of Tuesday the 10th of March. The floor is wooden and excellent for dancing on, and the food is Italian and very good.
Everyone in the community would be very welcome. The restaurant can seat 80-100 people, so there will be plenty of room.
Could you please let me know by email or text, if you are keen to come along? I need to have a list of names by Friday (the 16th) so we can confirm with the manager at Veni Vidi Vici.
So: Veni Vidi Vici (156 Cuba Street) on Tuesday the 10th of March, from 7pm.. Let me know by email or text if you can make it, and if we have the numbers we will book it.
