Wellington Tango this week - 14th June

Less than a week to go before the Tango Festival begins - and theres
plenty happening to get you warmed up and in the mood!

Advanced Class 2:30-3:30 Saturday, 15 June 2013. 22 Webb Street.

Last night Mira and I spent 3 hours developing material for this
Saturday's final Advanced class before the festival and it's a
cracker! The title of the class is "The Conversation" and we have
planned it to take good dancers on a path to the next level. I would
like you all to come along to share the journey if you can.

Post-Festival Classes with Matthew and Mira

The Technique and Fundamentals Class will build upon basic Tango
knowledge to
strengthen lead and follow’s technique, and build on essential
concepts and figures. The Open Level Class will build upon a concept
introduced in the
Fundamentals Class to lead to more complex and advanced figures. The
Monday Night Class is an open, intermediate-level class before the
Práctica Dynamica,
which encourages changing roles.

Saturdays July 13, 20, 27 and August 10, 17, 24
2:30-3:30pm Technique and Fundamentals 2 classes: $20 +$5 for Práctica
3:30-4:30pm Open Level Class 1 class: $15 +$5 for Práctica
4:30-7:00pm The usual Saturday Práctica Práctica only: $8

Every Monday
7-8pm Intermediate Class 1 class: $15 +$5 for Práctica
8-9:30pm Práctica Dynamica Práctica only: $7

Queer Tango

This coming Monday, 17 June, we have a special pre-festival treat for
you! The fabulous Vio –also the founder of queer tango Wellington-
will be teaching us and this is what she has prepared for class:
From crosses to sweet ganchos.
This class will review the technique for leading the follower to
cross, with both feet, from front and back. Then we'll look at how to
create the eight (!) slick ganchos available to you after any cross.
The whole thing depends on follower's technique and we'll be looking
at how to manage tension in the embrace and the legs so that you can
be ready for delightful exits from every cross.
Followed by Practica Dynamica with DJ Vio . 75% traditional music.
100% happy tango.

Class starts at 7-8pm and will be followed by Practica Dynamica from
8-9:30pm. It is an open class, dancers at all levels are welcome.
Monday Tango and Practica Dynamica are hosted by Queer Tango
Wellington. If you stay for the whole night, the cost will be $20.
Otherwise cost is $15 for just the class, or $7 for just the practica.
Location is the usual - Crossways Community Centre at Level 1/6
Roxburgh Street, Mount Victoria.
