News from The Tango Club:
There will be no tango at Southport Sharks this Sunday, May 9th, as it is Mother's Day and the club has other music entertainment booked.
News from Cecilia: Two upcoming events
Tales of Tango Cabaret performance, live band. Thursday 13 May @ Brisbane Jazz Club
El Chamuyo is a project by Brisbane-based musicians Solange Lipcin (voice) and Lochlan Morrissey (piano and bandoneon) that explores Argentinian music, from the passionate tango – infused with the streetscape of Buenos Aires – to complex folkloric dances from the north of the country.
In this cabaret-style performance featuring guest Joel Woods (guitar), El Chamuyo will be celebrating the tango as song. This will capture the more intimate side of tango, through its language: through its poems of love and loss, of romance and revenge.

Tango Meets Jazz, La Vuelta Tango Thursday 20 May @ The Brisbane Jazz Club
Come and experience La Vuelta Tango play original compositions, new arrangements and tango bangers. Featuring the smooth vocals of Solange Lipcin, experience the unique sound and driving rhythms of some of Brisbane's finest tango musicians including Lara Baker-Finch (violin), Camilla Tafra (cello), Lochlan Morrissey (bandoneón), Joel Woods (guitar), and Sophie Collis (contrabass).
The promo code is TANGOQUEENSLAND and this will get you in at member prices. This is a live listening and dance event which gets booked out quickly, so it is best to organise to book early.
The Brisbane Jazz Club will continue this event once a month if it continues to be successful and are encouraging people to become a member for a very reasonable fee as this is the last of the promo code. Being a member gives you up to $10 discount on all events at the Brisbane Jazz Club which is a not-for-profit organisation and run by many volunteers and a few paid staff.
The Club will be upgrading the outside deck area in the very near future so that there is a better surface for dancing with more space.
