Glasgow Tango Collective is proud to welcome back the wonderful Laura Murphy & Fransley Marcel to Glasgow for a rich weekend of Argentine Tango. This will be the fourth time Fran & Laura return to teach in Glasgow, and we’re delighted to welcome them back once again.
This weekend is designed to inspire dancers of all levels by bringing a true taste of Buenos Aires to Glasgow. Through Fran & Laura’s inspirational teaching, dancers are invited to experience a tango that is grounded, musical, and connected.
Workshops
Workshop 1 – Individual Technique
(Running simultaneously in two rooms)
Followers’ Technique:
Let’s work towards the freedom that comes from solid technique: the kind of autonomy that allows you to enjoy your own movement, connect with the music, and keep growing. Small details that completely change how your dance feels.
Leaders’ Technique:
An accessible training session designed to build confidence, balance, and stability. We’ll work on strength, core, and creativity so you can offer a comfortable, clear, and sensitive embrace, feeling grounded and available when dancing.
Workshop 2 – Historic Milongueros Figures
Let’s explore figures from historic couples who shaped the tango we dance today. We believe that tradition always has something to teach us and inspire our dancing.
Workshop 3 – Colgadas & Volcadas
Recent in tango’s history yet already part of the traditional repertoire, these movements continue to evolve. We’ll work on the technique needed to integrate colgadas and volcadas into the dance without breaking continuity, comfort, or the aesthetics of the embrace.
Workshop 4 – Steps for a Crowded Dance Floor
A crowded floor is tango’s natural habitat. Learning how to make the most of small spaces with the right repertoire and technique helps us move better — and look more like tangueros — without losing elegance or connection.
