Hey, I can see the last time someone spoke on here was quite a while ago but I am looking for some help if anyone is out there, lol.

I am very new coding. But we have been set a brief at uni to explore behaviour. I am choosing to explore folklore and the behaviour between oral and literary sources of folklore. There is a huge oral tradition with folklore itself because its dynamic, the story can change depending on the context and who is telling it. I want to try and replicate this unpredictive nature in static literary forms of folklore.  By creating an interface, following a similar structure to the synoptic gospels where one folklore adaption can branch off into many others, or contain elements that other stories also share (e.g, a specific lake, an animal, etc) I want the text to be reactive to the user interacting with it, almost mirroring the characteristics that oral sources of folklore can bring.

Can anyone help me with some advice using tangle for this. I'm not sure where I even download it.

Hi Ella,

Sounds like a fun project!  Tangle is probably not the right tool; it's not supported anymore, and it demands some coding background.

You should check out "Twine" -- http://twinery.org  It's widely used for creating dynamic stories by drawing a "map" of the story structure.

Another tool with a similar goal but different approach is "Inform 7" --  http://inform7.com  Here, you create dynamic stories by describing them in a programming language which reads like English prose.

If you're looking for something more similar to Tangle but supported, check out Idyll -- https://idyll-lang.org

Best of luck!
