Barbaad (Bengali: বরবদ, English: Ruined) is a 2014 Bengali romantic action film directed by Raj Chakraborty and produced by Shree Venkatesh Films. The film features newcomers Bonny Sengupta and Rittika Sen in the lead roles. The film is a remake of the 2013 Telugu film Venkatadri Express.
The film revolves around Joy (Bonny Sengupta), a carefree young man who loves to travel and explore new places. He belongs to a wealthy family that has a strict rule of not missing any train in their lives. Joy's father (Prabir Dutta) is a retired army officer who is very strict and disciplined. Joy's mother (Tulika Basu) is a loving and supportive woman who tries to balance between her husband and son. Joy has an elder brother Akash (Mainak Banerjee), who is a successful lawyer and a responsible son.
Joy falls in love with Nandini (Rittika Sen), a college student who is also a travel enthusiast. They meet on a train journey and decide to elope to Puri, a coastal town in Odisha. However, their plan goes awry when they miss their train due to Joy's negligence. Joy's father gets furious and disowns him from the family. Joy and Nandini are left stranded in the middle of nowhere with no money and no contacts. They face many challenges and dangers as they try to reach Puri and reunite with Joy's family.
Meanwhile, Joy's brother Akash gets involved in a legal case against Imran (Sudip Mukherjee), a dreaded gangster who is also Nandini's uncle. Imran wants to marry Nandini against her will and he sends his goons to kidnap her. Joy and Nandini have to fight against Imran and his men, as well as the police who are after them for eloping. Will they be able to overcome all the obstacles and reach their destination? Will Joy's father forgive him and accept his love for Nandini? Will Akash be able to win the case against Imran and save his brother?
