Position:  Storekeeper for fuel, chemicals and fertilizer

Location: Moshi, Kilimanjaro Region, Tanzania

Gross salary: Competitive and depending on experience

Kilimanjaro Plantation was established in 2000 and is now one of East Africa’s largest coffee farms located above Moshi, on the southern slope of Kilimanjaro Mountain. It is recognized for growing and producing excellent Arabica Coffee for export thereby being one of the most modern coffee farms in Tanzania. We are currently looking for a dynamic, qualified and motivated Storekeeper with a passion for the job to join our team.


Tasks and responsibilities:

In this role you will report to the Store Manager & Head of Procurement, and your responsibilities will comprise of the following:

 

a.     The employee shall be employed as Storekeeper for fuel, chemicals and fertilizer directly reporting to the store manager. The employee shall be required to carry out the following activities and any other activities related to his position and as will be required by the employer from time to time:

  • Responsibility for all processes of stocking fuel, chemicals and fertilizer during the agreed working hours
  • Reporting: directly to store manager
  • Ensuring a professional and correct receipt of ordered items according to agreed procedures and timelines, containing the following steps:

o    Following up in a regular period of one week the expected receipt of items with the purchasing division

o    Preparing receipt of ordered items: location, offloading, marking items etc.

o    Receiving of ordered items

o    Quality and quantity check of delivered items and documents, depending on purchasing volume and complexity under presence of demanding department

o    Approval of material receipt: stamp, material receipt note

o    Arranging of received items in store

o    Providing store accountant with relevant/requested documents for posting receipt of material in ERP system

o    Bin card management: updating bin cards, creating new bin cards

  • Ensuring a professional and correct process of issuing, delivering and returning materials according to agreed procedures and timelines, containing the following steps:

o    Handing over relevant documents (e.g. issue note) and items according to quantity on correctly authorized request/instruction under supervision of security supervisor

o    Receiving back returned items incl. requested documents (e.g. issue summary voucher, return delivery note) and arranging accordingly

o    Recording of issues to relevant ledger books if required according to process

o    Providing store accountant with relevant/requested documents for posting issues in ERP system

o    Bin card management: updating bin cards

  • Responsibility to develop, implement and control together with the store accountant a bin level that follows the requirements of KPL in consultation with store manager, head of procurement and responsible department head
  • Ensuring correct physical stock by regular stock taking according to agreed procedures
  • Supporting the accountant in a regular stocktaking process in case of requested information
  • Keeping store clean and tidied up
  • Ensuring an immediate feedback to head of procurement and store manager in case of expired items and support in a decision making process
  • Replacing any procurement staff in case of leave or another situation that requires a handing over of responsibility
  • Ensuring a proper written handing over of all documents and responsibility to selected person according to agreement in case of leave or another situation that requires a handing over of responsibility
  • Undertaking any unforeseen matters, changes and extension of duties according to company needs

 

Skills:

A candidate envisaged for this role will have the following skills:

 

·         Result orientated, takes initiative, highly self-motivated and eager to work

·         Being a hands-on person and acting as part of the team

·         Good planning and problem-solving ability

·         Good communication and organisational skills in a hectic environment

·         Language: Swahili and basic English skills would be an advantage

·         Computer skill would be an advantage

 

Experience:

A candidate envisaged for this role will have:

 

·          Education: Diploma or Equivalent qualification

·          Work Experience: at least 2 years work experiences as store keeper
