With a mix of producing fields, existing prospects, and additional leads, Australian Hancock Petroleum Refining Company is looking for Health & Safety supervisors to join the Operations department. The successful candidate will work with senior personnel and be exposed to a wide variety of operations related projects, specifically in the West Perth Territories assets. The Operations group in the refinery primarily monitors production performance, production improvements and operating costs in order to achieve a high level of safety and efficiency in the plant and field operations. The Health & Safety Supervisor will report to the VP of Operations and/or COO, and is accountable for promoting a safe work place environment that fosters a positive HS culture. Responsibilities-
Main responsibilities include:
• Develop and plan HS goals and objectives.
• Be the main contact of all HS related questions and issues.
• Hold regular meetings with operations staff in which HS related issues are discussed.
• Bring forward all HS concerns to management for review and implementation upon management discretion.
• Take responsibility for the update and maintenance of the Corporate HS Manual.
• Produce management presentation reports, newsletters and bulletins.
• Complete operational risk assessments.
• Complete and facilitate the proper completion of all required safety documentation, job hazard analysis and risk matrix hazard identification tools; manage Safety Sync database.
• Manage and coordinate field medics.
• Complete regular site inspections to check if policies, practices and procedures are being properly implemented and followed; ensure site requirements are being met.
• Understand how to control aspects and effects to eliminate or minimize risk and potential for incidents.
• Lead and facilitate all incident investigations and conduct root cause analysis.
• Take responsibility for required audit operations that meet federal and provincial jurisdictions.
• Review and organize all documentation.
• Review and approve contractor HS programs and requirements.
• Be a liaison with outside regulatory bodies (e.g. AER, WCB, OH&S, Environmental Agencies)
• Ensure all PPE and equipment is safe through regular inspections and proper maintenance schedules.
• Implement and complete all action plan items.

Requirements-
The Health & Safety Coordinator should possess:
• Post-secondary experience in Occupational Health and Safety or any related field.
• A minimum of 3 years in a safety role with a proven record of effective safety management.
• Time management skills; attention to detail; a capacity to prioritize by assessing a situation to determine urgency; works cooperatively and effectively with others.
• Work independently as sole representative in a growing safety culture.
