A client is having some problems installing my software on their machine. The exact error code they get is "The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 2356". This is a Windows error, and means "Could not locate cabinet in stream". My software was built using Advanced Installer, and installs fine on other machines.

Windows Installer Error 2356 is typically an error (bug) found at runtime. Software developers like SoftwareDeveloper typically work through several stages of debugging to prevent and fix bugs found in the final product before the software is released to the public. As much as software developers attempt to prevent it, some minor errors such as error 2356 might not have been found during this phase.

Some users might experience the message "Windows Installer Error 2356" while using Windows Installer. In the event of the detected error 2356, customers may convey the presence of problem to Microsoft Corporation via email or bug reporting. The developer will then be able to rectify its source code and release an update in the market. Therefore, when you do a Windows Installer software update, it will contain a patch for fixing issues like error 2356.

Error 2356 Crash - error 2356 locks up any input and it can make the machine crash. These errors typically occur when Windows Installer inputs can't be correctly processed, or it's confused by what is supposed to be output.

Windows Installer Error 2356 Memory Leak - The error 2356 causes Windows Installer to continually leak memory. Memory consumption is directly proportion to CPU utilization. There are some potential issues that may be the reason for getting runtime problems, with incorrect coding leading to infinite loops.

Error 2356 Logic Error - A "logic error" is said to be generated when software receives the correct input but generates incorrect output. Microsoft Corporation's faulty source code can lead to these issues with input handling.

Windows Installer Error 2356 issues are often the result of the file that is missing, deleted, or accidentally moved from Windows Installer's original installed location. As a first troubleshootiong step, most PC professionals will attempt to replace the applicable version of the Microsoft Corporation file. Moreover, as an overall cleanup and preventive measure, we recommend using a registry cleaner to cleanup any invalid file, Microsoft Corporation file extension, or registry key entries to prevent related error messages.

Windows Installer-involved Windows Installer Error 2356 issues happen during install, when Windows Installer Error 2356-related software is running, startup or shutdown, or during the Windows installation process. When seeing the Windows Installer Error 2356 error, please record occurrences to troubleshoot Windows Installer, and to help Microsoft Corporation find the cause.

When I try to install Nitro Pro, I go thru the wizard and it downloads and continues to the "Install" pootion at which point it immediately crashes with a RunDLL error window stating that there is a problem and a file named MSI****.tmp (each time is a random filename) is not a valid Win32 file.

Ideas?

Hi. Sorry I should have mentioned that I tried that already. Same error, except it happens immediately upon execution of the msi file. Then, after dismissing it, the installation seems to start working before the error pops up again, after which the process dies.

how do I use the offline installers. I am having the same problem with Nitro Pro 13.70.2.40 on HP laptop with 64bit windows 11 pro. after download, stops and pop up says MSIB305 is not a valid win32 application. When I click on links above it goes nowhere.

Tried your recommendations for MSIB305 error while installing Nitro Pro 13. No luck. After more failures, stopped my McAfee virus trial and tried again. It worked that time. Hope this could help others. Thank you for your help.

This repair tool can fix common computer errors like BSODs, system freezes and crashes. It can replace missing operating system files and DLLs, remove malware and fix the damage caused by it, as well as optimize your PC for maximum performance.

Runtime Code 2356 happens when Windows Installer fails or crashes whilst it's running, hence its name. It doesn't necessarily mean that the code was corrupt in some way, but just that it did not work during its run-time. This kind of error will appear as an annoying notification on your screen unless handled and corrected. Here are symptoms, causes and ways to troubleshoot the problem.

Here we list some definitions for the words contained in your error, in an attempt to help you understand your problem. This is a work in progress, so sometimes we might define the word incorrectly, so feel free to skip this section!

Runtime errors happen without warning. The error message can come up the screen anytime Windows Installer is run. In fact, the error message or some other dialogue box can come up again and again if not addressed early on.

There may be instances of files deletion or new files appearing. Though this symptom is largely due to virus infection, it can be attributed as a symptom for runtime error, as virus infection is one of the causes for runtime error. User may also experience a sudden drop in internet connection speed, yet again, this is not always the case.

During software design, programmers code anticipating the occurrence of errors. However, there are no perfect designs, as errors can be expected even with the best program design. Glitches can happen during runtime if a certain error is not experienced and addressed during design and testing.

Runtime errors are generally caused by incompatible programs running at the same time. It may also occur because of memory problem, a bad graphics driver or virus infection. Whatever the case may be, the problem must be resolved immediately to avoid further problems. Here are ways to remedy the error.

I need to create a custom host file that has unatended access policy and would automatically apear in our computer list when deployed. Is it possible? If yes than how to configure it? I already know how to make gpo deployments, but I am new to team viewer.

Did some research and found out that it can be done with passing comand lines to the msi installer. Could someone give me hints what comand line arguments I should use and what software to use to pass those arguments.

I passed it in the shortcut to msi file target window, but easy access was not granted and it has not apeared in my devices list. Also tried running installation with my custom host installer with arguments on the .bat file.

I tried editing the host file msi with orca, but now I am receiving error 2356. I added customconfig id,apitoken and assignemnt aptions that grants eassy access and adds the computer to a group. Can somebody advise what might be the problem.

There's a lot of things in those docs that do not work as they say they do. I've wasted a lot of time trying to "fix" our alias assignments of Proper Username and Computername in installation scripts, to no avail. We adjust the alias post install, which is terrible.

I bet u edited .msi file (64bits) but orca is working with 32bits. Sooo u need to download 32bit TeamViewer_Host.msi then edit this 32bit version. It worked for me and i bet it will be same for you. Hope it will help more ppl.

These installers are built automatically using the current sourcecode and are automatically tested. We do not release installers thathave known major problems, so these builds should be suitable for mostpurposes. Official releases and builds deemed to be "stable" are notedas such and highlighted in bold type.

If you encounter errors when using any of these builds, pleaseupdate to the most recent build before sending a bug report. (It isgenerally a good idea to update frequently anyway, since the codechanges rapidly.)

Note: Phenix installers are available for 64-bit Windowssystems (Windows 7 or newer). Some programs or features are not availablebecause of limitations of the Windows platform; please read the platformsupport notes for details. We appreciate any feedback about bugs orinconsistencies.

Just installed Blitz from Steam after buying it on sale; naturally it won't start. Tried all the easy fixes, delete/reinstall, etc, so now to send you all the data you need. Hardware is an i7-7700k, 1080ti, 32gb RAM, game on SSD, Warthog stick, throttles, rudders, and Edtracker pro wireless.

The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Launch permission for the COM Server application with CLSID
Windows.SecurityCenter.WscDataProtection
and APPID
Unavailable
to the user NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM SID (S-1-5-18) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Unavailable SID (Unavailable). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.

I appreciate your response. Please ignore my petty irritation - it was late and I had tried a bunch of things. I agree that it must be something with my steam installation, so tomorrow (going to rain here so a good day to do it) I plan on completely removing Steam and re-installing it.
