This organization was created in order to give Chicanx/Latinxs on campus an opportunity to find a home away from home, while providing academic and community resources and a family networking system through a basis of three pillars: academics, community service and collegiate networking. Thus, ensued the beginning of Hermanas Unidas.

This is what every Hermanx strives to embody, as an individual womxn and an organization. This motto symbolizes the strength and will of each and every Hermanx in their quest for higher education, the empowerment of their families and communities, as well as equality in education, the workplace and the rest of society.

Active Members: MUST complete 12 community service hours, 15 academic hours, pay dues, attend ONE academic workshop, and the Alcohol policy workshop. As an active member you may attend general body retreats, receive gear at the end of the semester, attend banquet at a discounted rate, and run for board for the following year.

Non-Active Members: Although encouraged, non-active members DO NOT need to complete the 12 community service hours, 15 academic hours or attend alcohol policy. Non-active members DO NOT have to pay dues either. Non-active members may be limited to certain social events but may attend all and any general body meetings.

This is the story of a young woman, her face in profile, depicted by the leaf and the stem. This woman is on her path to enlightenment through the pursuit of higher education, symbolized through the winding stem; which also represents the challenges yet rewarding road towards personal growth. Her path leads to el Quinto Sol, this is the fruit of her sacrifice , the sum of her experiences and the rewards of the relationships that she has built. This is the story of the hermanas that blossoms into a woman of truth, a better woman for having traveled that road. El Quinto Sol reminds all hermanas to never forget where they came from and what challenges the road might give but through hermandad we can surpass anything.
