Irecently bought an EPSON Workforce WF-3540, which I'm using under Ubuntu 12.10 with the official driver provided by EPSON. I am often printing batches of about a hundred pages, duplex. When I'm doing this, after about 20 pages, I regularly get an error message on the printer screen, telling me the printer encountered unknown error 0xFA, forcing me to turn the printer off and back on.
I talked to EPSON about the problem, but they claim they're not supporting Linux and tell me to ask the Linux community about the problem (and possibly another driver?). So this is what I'm doing here... any ideas?
BTW, the problem hasn't happened, so far, when I'm printing smaller batches or not using duplex. Whenever the problem happens, there's a page in the printer that's already been printed on one side, so I'm suspecting the problem's connected with the duplexer.
I, too had this error code come up when I was printing several 2-sided pages. I opened up the back and sure enough, there was a paper jam. Turned printer off, pulled out paper, and turned printer back on. Problem fixed! Too bad the screen didn't just read "paper jam." That would have saved me a lot of time!
I just encountered the same error code and after letting the printer sit a few minutes while off, the screen said there was a paper jam once restarted. Restarting it quickly just gave me the same error code. I cleared the jam and the printer "adjusted itself" for about a minute. Seems to working fine after printing another 30+ duplex prints. -AL
In addition to having our very own Epson Store listing high quality Epson printers at affordable prices, we have a comprehensive list of Epson printer error codes and solutions to help you at home or at work.
I have talked to Epson and all they could tell me was that the Paper Width Sensor had to be replaced. The technician indicated that they did not know of any other way to reset the computer other than as you suggested. He indicated that special software was required and that it was outside his scope.
Epson provided me with a Epson authorized service centre and I have called them for an estimate to replace the Paper Width Sensor. I think you are within the GTA area and wonder if you know of a authorized Epson service centre that might be more familiar with the P800 series?
This is the 4th time that I have experienced error messages with a P800 printers. The first 3 were within the warranty period and they replaced the unit with a reconditioned one. The first time I received a fatal error, then other error messages. I am not a heavy user of this printer and it worked a week ago, so I wondering about these issues.
I do agree with you that if the sensor has to be replaced that the issue will not be resolved, but my feeling is that if I can get the error message to disappear and get to the main menu that it could just be a driver issue. Maybe just wishful thinking on my part.
Epson recommended 123 Computerware in Brampton. But the person who answered the phone did not seem to know the printer that well, which is why I was asking if you could recommend another authorized Epson service outlet. I purchased the printer at Vistek so I may just contact them.
Assuming you told Epson the correct error code number and the kind of malfunction, they should know what the problem is, and if they thought doing a software reset would solve the problem, I have no doubt they would have advised accordingly.
This quote from Steve Jobs, as well as the support of family, friends, and loyal followers from many years are what inspired me to create this new website that is dedicated to photography. There are a lot of websites featuring photography. Many are good; in fact, many have been created and run by friends of mine. That is probably what I like most about photography. You make a lot of friends with whom, more than anything else, you share a passion and love for photography in many ways.
photoPXL was created around a dinner table with friends. This site will be about the community of photography, a place where young and old alike can share their stories, learn about the art and craft of photography, and gain an understanding of what it takes to Enhance Your Vision.
One of the most exciting features of the new site will be building a community using photographer profile pages. This will be a place where you can share your images with other readers and see what others are doing with theirs. There will also be a forum where you can ask questions and share your knowledge, further developing the sense of community.
Photography for me has always been personal. I can be really serious sometimes, working to catch a certain image, but no matter what I never forget to have fun. I want this site to mean the same thing for you and be a place where you can come and experience many photography-related topics and have fun while doing so.
When I tried to install a new version of iTunes it shows an error iTunes sync error 54, I really have no idea how to remove this error also I want a proper instruction how we can install updated version of iTunes.
Reset Printer: Try resetting your Epson printer to its factory settings. Refer to the printer's manual for instructions on how to do this, as the process can vary depending on the model.
Contact Epson Support: If the error persists after trying these steps, it might indicate a more serious hardware issue. In that case, it's best to contact Epson customer support for further assistance.
Well thank you @JaniceCarlson for another useless post - which reads like it is (mostly?) ChatGPT-generated. Shame on you if that's the case. In fact, I see that *all* of your posts read like they're ChatGPT-generated. We don't need this crap on the site.

What to do with this information is another matter and beyond my experience. But often these errors are flukes and can be resolved by simply turning the machine off and back on again. Have you tried that yet?
After posting my question, I did a Google search and found some articles from 2012 - 14 about the 1224 error code. One mentioned turning the printer off and unplugging it for about 5 minutes. I tried that and the error code has cleared.
If you own an Epson printer, you might have experienced error messages on your printer's display screen. These error messages can be frustrating, especially when you need to print an important document. Epson printers are known for their high-quality prints, durability, and advanced features, but like any other electronic device, they are prone to errors.
In this article, we will explore some of the most common Epson printer errors and provide solutions to fix them. Whether you are facing Epson L5190 error E-01, 033007, error 033007, or any other error code, we've got you covered.
Before we dive into the solutions, it's essential to understand what causes these errors. Epson printer errors can be due to a variety of factors such as incorrect printer settings, outdated firmware, paper jams, clogged printhead, or faulty cables. Identifying the root cause of the error will help you determine the appropriate solution.
Error code 0xea: This error code occurs when the carriage caddy is not able to move freely. To fix this error, turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Open the printer cover and check for any obstructions that might be preventing the carriage caddy from moving freely. Remove any obstructions and close the cover. Turn on the printer and try printing again.

Open the printer cover and check the FFC cable connections between the printer's mainboard and the scanner. Ensure that the cables are securely connected. I am getting the notorious 'Filter' failed error message. I have had this before and managed to find a way to print something simple (B+W text) first (I think). This time I have not found a way around this despite following many suggested solutions from your website and others. At one point, printing from any application would cause it to simply quit. I can't print anything.
I may have other issues happening and I am sure they are separate from this problem which I have had in the past. My computer has been freezing and restarting often would not result in the computer successfully coming back up. I seem to be OK for now, but I had to leave the computer all night after a Restart to find it working this morning.
In the instructions from Epson below, you can use Command-Shift G in the Finder, then, a.) Replace 'space'>'space with /; b.) Make sure the items are moved to trash and not just copied; c.) This should work for other printers, so step 10 would be to go to the support page for your printer; d.) If the support page does not offer a downloadable file, follow the steps for Adding A Printer as you normally would in Printers & Scanners of the Systems Preferences.
