A. General Statement of Duties
Under the supervision of the Microcomputer Specialist, the Student
Computer Technician assists in maintaining a NT 4.0 Web server
and a SQL Server. The Technician will be required to assist in
the maintenance and repair of hardware attached to the web server as
well as administer SQL databases and writing HTML/JAVA/C++
B. Major Responsibilities
- Assists in the management and maintenance of the departmental Web Server.
- Manage, maintain and/or update SQL database files on the SQL server.
- Assists in training end-users in HTML, NT workstation 4.0, Windows 95,
and Microsoft Office 97.
- Responsible for troubleshooting and/or repair of software, PC's,
and printers confilicts/errors.
- Assists in writing and troubleshooting programs in JAVA or Visual C++.
C. Previous Experience (minimum)
- Experience with IBM compatible PC's, Windows NT, HTML, JAVA, Office 95/97
- Working knowledge of LANs, LAN protocols, and general network management in
a Windows NT Server and Novell environment.
- Experience in programming HTML for web applications.
- Good communications skills; both verbal and written.
- The ability to work well on an individual basis or in a group setting.
D. Previous Experience (preferred)
- Student majoring in Computer Science, Business Analysis or related major.
- Experience in programming HTML/C++ for SQL database applications.
- Experience in trouble-shooting and repairing PC's.
- Experience in programming in xbase languages and OOP.
E. Pay Scale
In accordance with departmental policy, the Student Computer
Technician will start at a rate of $6.00. A higher beginning
salary may be possible depending on qualifications.
