Nominations Needed for .......

The 2000 - Alan T. Waterman Award

The funding agency has NOT limited the number of
nominations that can be submitted to this particular program.
Please distribute this information to faculty in your college to
see if they have any interest in submitting a nomination. Below
is information on the program, please note that the postmark
deadline has been extended until December 31, 1999.

AGENCY:
National Science Foundation

AGENCY PROGRAM TITLE:
Alan T. Waterman Award

BRIEF PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
This program is presented annually to a young researcher in
any field of science or engineering funded by the National
Science Foundation.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents and
must be 35 years old or younger, or not more than seven years
beyond receipt of the Ph.D. by December 31, 1999. Criteria
include originality, innovation and significant impact on the
field.

WHICH LOCAL AGENCIES CAN SUBMIT:
Texas A&M University

FUNDING AVERAGE AMOUNT OF GRANT:
The 2000 Award consists of a citation, a bronze medal, and a
nonrestrictive grant of $500,000 over a 3-year period for
scientific research or advanced study, in the biological,
mathematical, medical, engineering, physical, social or other
sciences at the institution of the recipient's choice.

SPONSOR DUE DATE:
Postmarked date by December 31, 1999.
