As most of you know, I've been involved as a software mentor for a
FIRST Robitics Competition (FRC) team for Dixie Hollins High School in Pinellas County.
Some of you have expressed an interest in attending our
regional competition event this week in Orlando. The event is 3 days, Thur, Mar 13 through Sat, Mar 15; with the qualifying rounds all day Friday, and Sat morning. (Thur is setup and inspections). Sat afternoon are the final elimination rounds that only the top roughly 1/3 of the 62 teams attending the competition will participate in.
There is no charge to attend the competition, everybody is invited. Bring interested kids too (even kindergarten kids are welcome)! If you wear close-toed and closed-heeled shoes and have (or borrow) safety glasses, you can go into the pit area to get up close and personal with the 62 robots at the competition. FRC encourages openness among the teams -- there are no secrets or intellectual properties; so ask questions and the team members will be very glad to show off their stuff!
Our team is #4769, the team name is Nerdvana with a flaming blue and red N logo. Come cheer us on!
Look me up if you come, and I'll show you around. My cell number is 727 area code, 798-0859. (Leave a message, or text if I don't answer as it's quite noisy there!)
