I thought the Tampa Free Skool might be interested in this event:

A solidarity network is a way to organize with a critical consciousness for both one's goals and relative strength in accomplishing those goals. The Seattle Solidarity Network, or SeaSol for short, started in 2008 with only a handful of activists, from a variety of backgrounds. The vision for SeaSol might best be described as a blending of the "direct action casework" of the Ontario Coalition Against Poverty and the "solidarity unionism" of the Industrial Workers of the World. Out of 25 fights SeaSol has taken on, they have won 22. Further still, SeaSol's success rate can be attributed to its organizing model, with an emphasis on direct action, winnability, and mutual empowerment.

I think this organizing model can be very useful to representing a group like Tampa Free Skool in the broader scope of Tampa Bay activism/community organizing. The basic model, to be fleshed out during this coming meeting, is a spokescouncil representing diverse groups (e.g., Occupy Tampa, Tampa Food Not Bombs, Tampa Bay Fair Food, Tampa IWW) and a volunteer organizing committee run on directly democratic lines. If anyone has an interest in coming to the meeting, please come out! I'll also bring this up at the Free Skool General Meeting this Friday.
