Iread that early builds of Chrome supported ActiveX, but was later restricted to certain MIME types (for support for say Windows Media Player). I then read Google was going to enable ActiveX strictly for the Korean market. How do I (re)enable this in Chrome?
Meadroid do this because they have ActiveX controls which they have written and they want them to be able to work in any browser, and they explicitly mention Chrome in the list of supported browsers for enabling ActiveX with this.
I've not used either of these personally, but they look like they'll do what you want. I'd be interested to hear if they work out for you, as I know of other people who want to be able to use IEtab in Chrome :)
anyone who says activex is less secure then NPAPI is crazy. They both allow the exact same access. Yes I've written both. The only reason people think activeX is insecure is because 10+ years ago IE had default settings that allowed a remote site to auto download the plugin.
This could be pretty ugly, but doesn't Chrome use the NPAPI for plugins like Safari? In that case, you could write a wrapper plugin with the NPAPI that made the appropriate ActiveX creation and calls to run the plugin. If you do a lot of scripting against those plugins, you might have to be a bit of work to proxy those calls through to the wrapped ActiveX control.
I'm not an expert but it sounds to me that this is something you could only do if you built the browser yourself - ie, not something done in a web page. I'm not sure that the sources for Chrome are publicly available (I think they are though), but the sources are what you'd probably need to change for this.
Google Chrome comes with an ActiveX shim, as part of its default plugin array. So Google Chrome features at least partial support for ActiveX controls (as do many non-Internet Explorer browsers). I can't find information as to whether or not this includes support for ActiveX security certificates or the like, nor if/where such plugins can be controlled, within the browser.
I have been studying recently on how to embed a web browser into a VI. I have followed a lot of tutorials and been successful at making both a .NET version and ActiveX version work thus far. I am now to the point where I need to view a live steaming camera through the embedded webpage. Unfortunately all .NET and ActiveX objects reference Internet Explorer 7. This limits you to what web pages you can view. As a result I then figured out how to force the web browser objects to use IE11 through window's registry. I am now at the point where I need to stream a .MJPEG camera which IE does not have native support for.
Does anyone know of a way that I can create a .NET or ActiveX control off of a Firefox or chrome browser? I have jumped through so many hurdles to get IE to function on a basic level and this problem could be solved so much more efficiently with a modern web browser.
I found this post from 10+ years ago and I don't believe it will work with the newer browsers. I am looking for a similar (but modern) solution.
We are planning to shutdown IE browser and client is asking to replicate all the IE Plugin features in chrome. And they are not interested to go with Ajax option due to some reasons. Can some one please suggest a workaround to replicate/move IE Plugin features into chrome.
Petter is correct, the IE Plugin requires Internet Explorer due to the need for the ability to run ActiveX Control, which Chrome does not support, so the only option in Chrome is the Ajax Client at this time, the only other option would be to use the Desktop Client and either configure the AccessPoint URL in the Settings\User Preferences\Locations tab and then have the users use the Tools menu to launch the AccessPoint and open the application from there, or they could use the File\Open in Server option too, but that bypasses the web server completely and does a direct TCP port connection to the QVServer, interface is quite a bit different there. Those are the only options available.
Every time I try and view my cameras at xmeye, the site xmeye keeps redirecting to download activex and I download install and still get same message when I re log in. I keep resetting browser and restarting computer after install with same problem. I am using chrome and even allowed chrome permission to use activex.
Overview: While using a HD camera the web browser plugins were installed successfully however the user may experience the error message"Please re-login after plugin is installed". The reason for this is that the browser is still blocking the plugin from being executed while attempting to access the camera. This can also be caused by many reasons including a Pop Up Blocker deliberately blocking the browser from launching the appropriate plug-in. Be sure to disable the Pop Up Blocker while accessing Foscam products.
Solutions:
Chrome (Windows OS)
Launch the browser and in the address bar type the address chrome://components
Find pnacl located in the list; if the version number indicated is 0.0.0.0 the component has not been updated. Click on Check for Update to update the pnacl component and restart the browser after the update is complete.
Some anti-virus programs will block the browser plugin from being executed. If the problem continues after the pnacl plugin is updated temporarily disable the ant-virus program and try to login to the camera.
I need to open windows explorer share path folder from MS CRM 2013 or MS CRM 2015 entity form on click of the link. As you know in CRM we have URL field data type but according to me this is not capable of to open windows folder, here with this URL field you can only open http, https, ftp URL's not windows folder URI (ex: \\Comp\Sharefolder\).
At last am able to attach Onclick event on the field control and able to open the share path link on IE. But the same is not working for Google Chrome and Firefox, because ActiveXObject doesn't work forGoogle chrome and Firefox.
Yes I already thought earlier that is the last solution to call Webservice from form javascript if it won't work directly from Chrome and Firefox. Some how I wanted to make it work directly from form Link and wanted to get rid of developing Web service effort.
Yes you are right. But this is an existing set up where our CRM will be integrated with share network folder where file is stored by another system in zip format. CRM work is to just read this folder file from CRM form and rest this folder is in control of other project where they will give us read privilege only.
