For those considering adoption, the sleepover program provides the opportunity to take home a pet for up to 14 days on a trial basis. The program is available for select pets that have already been spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.

Participants complete an adoption application upfront, in the hopes that the sleepover will help facilitate a match. If the participants decide to adopt then they may keep the pet, if the trial does not work out for any reason they can return the pet to Animal Services.

We ask that you have your phone ready with your email pulled up once you pass through security. Please note that Sleepover Tickets are not viable for entry until 6:00pm, but allow for all day admission the morning after the sleepover.

Minimum age requirement for sleepovers, unless otherwise specified (i.e. middle school, adult) is 7 years old. Any guests under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult of 21 years of age or older. Adult sleepovers have a minimum age of 21+.

Please be advised that all Sleepovers WILL NOT include dinner but will include a bedtime snack and a breakfast option. Café Aquaria will be open until Monday-Thursday until 5 PM, and Friday-Sunday from 10-7 PM for guests wishing to purchase food before their sleepover. Large groups are encouraged to plan ahead and purchase café vouchers in advance for $13 each.

The health and safety of Academy staff, guests, and animal residents continues to be our top priority. Please keep the following COVID-19 requirements in mind as you plan your sleepover experience, noting that health and safety policies for sleepovers may be different than for other Academy events:

Sleepovers are for children ages 4-17 and their chaperones 25 and older. Unaccompanied children or adults without children are not permitted. There must be at least one chaperone for every five children, and chaperones assume full responsibility for the children in their party. Adults ages 18-24 are welcome to attend, but may not serve as chaperones and must be part of a party with children and designated chaperones 25 and older. Our Girl Scout-only sleepovers are for K-12 Scouts and their families.

After the Sleepover ends at 8 am, the museum must be vacated to prepare for opening. Since next-day admission to the museum is included with your sleepover ticket, feel free to get your hand stamped and re-enter when the building opens to the public for the day.

If requested more than 60 days prior to the event, up to 20 tickets of an order may be rescheduled once without penalty. No refunds or transfers to other dates will be given within 30 days of the event date. The Academy reserves the right to cancel any Penguins + Pajamas sleepover at any time.

All sleepover guests will be sent a sleep exhibit preference form two weeks before their event. This form allows for our guests to share their preference of where they will sleep. Our staff will assign sleep areas based on preferences, group size, and exhibit capacities, and your sleep assignment will be sent to you via email. Please note that you may not get assigned your first choice of a sleep area, but we're confident that no matter where you sleep you'll have a great sleepover!

Yes. Our sleepovers are best described as indoor camping experiences and are open to any and all groups, so they may be coed. If your group wishes to have a private sleeping area, please let your sleepover guide know during check-in. We will do our best to accommodate the needs of each group, but we cannot guarantee that a private sleeping area will always be available.

Sleepovers can make kids anxious because they put kids in a new environment without many of their usual comforts. If they get scared or nervous, it can be hard for them to calm down on their own. At the same time, sleepovers can be good for anxious kids because they help them practice handling tough emotions and gain confidence.

I can empathize to an extent with the co-worker in this scenario. I lived with 3-4 close friends all through college, so every day for 4 years was like a sleepover. When I first graduated and moved to a new city where I knew no one and had no roommate, it was impossibly lonely. I never attempted to resolve this loneliness by inviting a random female co-worker to have a slumber party at my house, but I understand the sentiment behind it. She may think this is a genuinely kind invitation that she would gladly accept if the roles were reversed.
