Appeal regarding Kumbabhishegam at Odayarkovil

There has been number of queries on this temple and its location etc 

Hence I am reproducing the information I received with the detailed invitation 

Please go through the same 

 

I am writing to you in connection with the Kumbabhishegam that is to be conducted at Sri Dharmavalli Ambal samedha Shri Karavandheeswara Swamy located in a remote village called Odayarkovil situated about 20 Kms from Thanjavur. The temple which was once the landmark upon which the village got its name (OdayarKovil) is much in need of restoration with the last Kumbabhishegam performed about 50 years ago.  

 

The Temple has inscriptions of the Chola King Rajendra Chola I, son of the Great Raja Raja Chola, who built the BIG Temple of Thanjavur.  The great Chola and Pandiya Kings of early centuries donated lands for the maintenance of the temple. Unfortunately the income from these lands has not only dwindled but also stopped except a small measure over these years for obvious reasons. There is no other source of income for this temple.

 

Considering this, me and a few of my friends who hail from this place alongside the villagers have jointly initiated the process of refurbishing the temple in a view to bring back the good days the temple had seen in the past. The restoration of this temple will bring the much required fillip to the villagers by providing various employment opportunities in addition to restoring the religious faith in the temple.
