Hope that some of you could attend these two events by KOMAS as it's relevant to the work we are doing here.

the conference will be held on 21/8/13 at Singgahsana Hotel, PJ and also the 20/8/13 UN's Special Expert on Minority Rights Meeting with NGOs at KOMAS's office.

I will attend both events from GBM Secretariat and please let us know who will be attending so that we could send in the registration together.

We are pleased to announce the 3rd National Conference: Malaysia on the Path to Non Discrimination, Is Equality for All? as a follow up from the last 2 years. Similar to the previous conferences, the conference will bring together people from different sectors including the civil servants to discuss and critically analyze different issues on non-discrimination.

This year, KOMAS together with Institute of Ethnic studies, University Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) is organizing the conference with a more specific theme focusing on minority rights.

The objective of the conference is to;

1. To provide an overview of the current state on minority rights in Malaysia.
2. To affirm and appreciate the best practice models that exist in the world and that can be replicated locally
3. To give voice to the marginalized minorities in Malaysia

We have also invited the UN Independent Expert on Minority Rights, Ms. Rita Izsak to attend the conference and she will be delivering a keynote speech during the conference. There will be three different panels discussing three different topics during the conference (Please see attached program for more details)
