Since some in this group have alleged that Brahmins are to be blamed
for the caste system, and others have claimed that boldness and reason
rules the internet, here's a small challenge to the group.

Below is a forwarded message that might interest the group. Anyone dare
to post an intelligent reply to the challenge? Or are you all too
scared to handle *real* arguments?

Four varnas were created by Manu - a khsatriya king. He
was not a brahmin. Brahmins never created the caste
system.

bHe never created dalits.Brahmins never created the class
dalits...

The Gods are not Brahmins - Lord Krishna, a Yadav and
Lord Raam, a Kshatriya. So Gods are not brahmins.

Did the caste system benefit Brahmins alone?

Could the caste system have survived had it benefitted
the Brahmins alone? Since it benefited the majority, it
is still continuing.

Where is the question of Brahmin exploitation? - 700
years of Muslim rule and 300 years of British rule. 1000
years - where is the question of Brahmin domination?
Prior to the arrival of mugals and british, different
provinces were rulled by different kings. the kings were
either kshatriyas or sudars.never brahmins. when brahmins
were not the ruling class, where is the question of
domination.there are records available to the effect that
kings never allowed more than two dhoties for brahmins.
because, brahmins should not aspire for material welfare.
when such is the case, where is the question of
domination. Hyderabad came out of the clutches of Nizam
after the intervention of Sardar Patel. During the rule
of Nizam, 98% of employment in government offices,
landholding, etc, were in the hands of Muslims. Where is
the question of Brahmin domination?

The sect - Dalits should have been created by the
British. British created the toilets. To clean the
toilets, they started using certain sect of people termed
scavengers. They ultimately became untouchables. Prior to
the arrival of British, Indians were relieving themselves
in fields, river beds, forests and ponds. So the question
of Brahmins alone using scavengers does not arise.

In Rajasthan and other places, scavengers are called
Bangis and even the other schedule castes and tribes,
treat them as untouchables.

Why are there 300 different categories in dalits
alone? Whether such division was created by Brahmins?
No.

In Tamilnadu, in a place called Kilvenmani, 44 dalits
were burnt alive by the OBC sect, Naickers - not a soul
raised in protest. Even dalits kept quiet. They were
afraid of the caste-Hindu retaliation.

Still, there are 800 villages in Tamilnadu - where
double tumble system is practiced. Nobody comes to
the rescue of dalits. Even Dalits are keeping quiet.
Why?
Afraid of brutal retaliation from caste Hindus.

A year back, a Gounder (OBC) policeman urinated into the
mouth of a Dalit. Everyone kept quiet. Why? Scared of OBC
brutality.

A Thevar (OBC) policeman made two dalits eat their own
excreta. Not a soul stirred in Tamilnadu. Why? Afraid of
brutal retaliation from OBCs.

Year after year, the All India SC/ST Commission lists the
number of atrocities committed on dalits. UP, Bihar and
Tamilnadu - top the list. Nobody bothers. Why? Brutal OBC
retaliation.

In Karnataka, lingayat and vokkaliga landlords, made
Dalits eat their own excreta. Not a soul stirred. Dalits
were afraid of OBC retaliation and brutality.

If you take a survey, throughout India, you will find
that Dalits are harassed by the so called OBCs. But
Brahmins are blamed. Why? Because, Brahmins are
physically weak, financially poor and politically zeroes.
They cannot retaliate. The majority of Indians keep
blaming Brahmins because it is the only way where both
the caste system and the reservation on caste lines can
be continued.

The word "caste" has no origin in India. It is derived
from the Portuguese word CASTA which meant race, breed or
lineage - quite distinct from varnas.

The British institutionalized the word CASTE and divided
the people into many castes, using the first census
program. Before the arrival of British our people were
not aware of the caste system, except varnas.

Why did the British hate Brahmins? - According to Sir
James Caird of Thanjavur, there was no class except
Brahmins, which was so hostile to the English.According
to maxwell, during independence struggle, 70% of the
people jailed, were brahmins.so naturally, british
developesd hatred for brahmins. conversion. Theywere
interested in conversion.theyhought that if Brahmins were
eliminated or if Brahmins could be projected as upper
caste, then Hinduism could be destroyed and Christianity
could take over. So they devised the word' Brahmanism'.

Ambedkar used the word Brahmanism extensively while
blaming the caste system in India. He never had the guts
to blame the entire caste system. He was also afraid of
the brutal power of the caste Hindus. He never blamed the
Marathas or the shudras or the vaishyas for the caste
system. If Brahmins alone were practising the caste
system, then Ambedkar would not have undergone the agony
of Hindu caste system. He would have lived happily with
others, ignoring the Brahmins. That has not happened. He
suffered at the hands of all caste men. But he blamed
only the Brahmins because of the British ploy. History
tells us that Ambedkar sided with the British. His
voluminous writings give a true picture of his pro-
British stance. He dressed like the British. Gandhi wore
only loin cloth. Ambedkar was fully westernized.Ambedkar
categorically told the British that only untouchables
helped the british in the conquest of india. battle of
Plassey was won with the help of dalits. he requested the
british to do something for dalits before leaving india.
such was his patriotism.he also said that congress and
gandhi did nothing for the elimination of
untouchability.ambedkar collaborated with the british to
undermine gandhi. these details are avilable in the 14
volumes (7371 pages) publishedby the govenment of
maharashtra, containing the works of ambedkar.similaris
the case with E.V.Ramasami naicker -an upper-caste
Vaisya. He sided with the British openly. He wanted the
British rule to continue. He told the British that even
if they left India, they must atleast rule Tamilnadu. He
also launched a hate-Brahmin campaign similar to the one
by Ambedkar. Another cunning British ploy.

Nicholas Dirks in his book CASTES OF MIND, COLONIALISM
AND THE MAKING OF MODERN INDIA, has observed that rather
than a basic expression of Indian tradition, caste is a
modern phenomenon - the product of concrete historical
encounter between India and British colonial rule.

Now there are more than 3000 caste divisions in India.
Who created such divisions? Not Brahmins. But Brahmins
take the blame for no fault of theirs.

The British ploy - denigrate and ridicule the Brahmins

as the source of social stagnation and exploitation. And
if you tell a lie 1000 times, some people start believing
it. So the hate Brahmin campaign started. And the British
succeeded in dividing the Indians as brahmins and non
brahmins. During the first census, they divided the
people into so many layers and ultimately hindus stand
divided by the devious machinations of the British.

Now you answer - why NOBODY IS TAKING STEPS TO ABOLISH

THE CASTE SYSTEM.?

You ask any Indian politician or any caste Hindu -
whether they have any time invited a Dalit scavenger for
a tea in their house? The answer will be BIG NO. Then why
blame Brahmins alone?

History tells us that Brahmins were never rulers. They
were ruled. They lived on the alms given by the kings and
the rich. Brahmins were devoting their time to knowledge-
seeking activities and recitation of Vedas and other
verses for the good of mankind. They were never after
wealth. Brahmins were called Unjavruthi Brahmins. That
means they were eking out their living from the grains
left in the fields by farmers (please refer Deivathin
Kural - by Maha Periaval). How can such Brahmins exploit
others? When Brahmins were physically weak and when they
were eking out their living by alms and other means like
unja writhe - how they could have exploited others? In
Srilanka, there is a large segment of Tamils. No
Brahmins. Still, there are a lot of dos and don'ts for
dalits. Untouchability is at its peak. If somebody reads
the dos and don'ts and see the conditions of Dalits, they
will be astonished at the cruelty of caste-Hindus. But
still Brahmins get the blame. Why?

while i hold no brief for the brahmins, it is atrocious
to blame brahmins alone for the caste system and
untouchability.

with best wishes,

yours sincerely
