Hello Homeowners Group,
Can anyone share any insight to the financial health of the resort? I know the financials are available online, but they are so coded and void of title, it is next to impossible to know what is up or down. At last years homeowners meeting, the numbers where not verbally disclosed, but perhaps up on the view screen in small print like in years past. I don't know for sure as I was on the conference call in number.
Anyway, as past zip line operator who paid the resort a percentage of revenues so the resort actually made money off zip lines for the past 9 years, I hear the resort had a very large loss this past year due to taking over the zip line, perhaps as high as $75,000 in the red. This was allegedly due to purchasing of vans, equipment, inspections, and new engineering by an outside firm, all at retail prices. Also, I know the liability that has now transferred over onto the homeowners. I get it that the leadership doesn't want to work with me because I've called BS when I have seen it over the years. Fine. But as a homeowner, still in the loop, being taxed for the ongoing losses, when is enough, enough?! This is year three now under the new leadership and all I hear is that the loss was over a million dollars, again, this past year? The numbers are continued to be spun and mixed into different stories of success or failure. And, we are being taxed by our not-for-profit homeowner association to cover losses for a secret, for profit homeowners group? Is this even legal?
What would happen if the resort just let all the contracts, taxes, deals, etc. expire and truly start over from scratch? Would that truly clear the way for a new owner to come in and buy the resort void of all the baggage, once and for all? I mean really, it's been over 10 years now. Seems to me the TMA is proving the definition of insanity, doing the same thing over and over again, yet expecting a different result.
Sorry folks, as long as I'm a homeowner, I'm going to continue to call this financial "pass the buck game" into the light.
As a whole, we haven't gotten a straight answer since 2010, in my opinion of course. Heck, I cannot even get basic landscape upkeep or mulch to my lawn in over 5 years!
Signed,
Still frustrated!
