My basic understanding is that I would need to save the various website pages from Chrome (or Microsoft Edge) in a HTML format, import these pages in Trados Studio, figure out how many words there are in order to provide a quote, then create a dedicated project, translate and send the output files to the client. Or, politely ask the client the provide the HTML pages they need to translate.
Well... the normal approach doesn't seem very helpful as your client would have to take these strings and recreate the html pages by copy pasting the translations which seems a bit of a waste of time.
Surely if your client is asking you for translated versions of their website they must have some mechanism for putting them somewhere so they get used? Given this they would surely prefer it if they gave you their html pages, you translated these and then sent them back? Seems a lot less work to me.
But if you want to download the entire website... and this means you may actually end up translating work your client didn't even ask for (another good reason to ask them for the files)... the this site seems to have some useful tools:
Once you've downloaded just create a project in Studio, drop all the files and folders into the project, and Studio will manage this for you. When you're done and you save the target project you'll have the same structure but fully translated.
I didn't explain how to do that specifically because it's basically the same as translating any files in Studio. The fact it's html makes no difference. But if you have a specific question we can always help you with that.
If I got it right, you suggest me that I should receive the HTML pages from the client, save them into a folder, load them in Trados Studio, proceed with the translation as I would normally do with word or excel files, and save the outuput files in HTML format: the client then has just to upload those output files in their website and the job is done?
You got it right... although keep in mind you can have the folder structure the client gives you, no need to separate the files out and put them in a folder. Just making sure you got that right. For example;
I tried to load a single HTML page on Trados Studio 2019, when I export the files via the Batch Tasks option, the translated text looks ok, but on the HTML output file I do not see the images, grahps and so on, I mean I see a little icon but nothing displayed as it is the source page website.
I had to manually change the icon or graph HTML "code", by copying and pasting from the source page website "code" to make it appear temporarily. (with right click on the icon or graph, selecting "check" and copy paste of the source code)
Do you have the folder with all the images? Do you know how the html is referencing them? This is more likely to be a task for your client. HTML is not like Word, the images are not embedded into the document itelf.
Any chance you can share with us your files? It's very difficult to answer this more specific question when we're completely in the dark about what you are looking at. I would also add that unless the images are going to localized it's highly likely that your customer will reuse the same ones. But the paths to the images is ultimately going to be the responsibility of your customer to resolve.
Have you been working with your customer on this to make sure you provide them with what they need? Or are you just working on the basis of you believing you have to do everything on your own? If you are still doing this for the quote then you should be able to do this already as you don't need to worry about images at all unless you have also been asked to localize them?
As it is the 1st time I deal with HTML files, I need to know if using Trados Studio I am able to provide a high quality service in translating website pages; if graphs, images and so on are missing on the output files, that's an issue worth to consider.
Unfortunately I haven't managed to attach here the source web page, and the output file generated on Trados (I've just translated a few lines): Insert - Image - File - but the HTML files cannot be uploaded here. (File type is not allowed)
Tuanphan, when I use the the code below, it works. However, on the mobile site, the the hamburger menu on the right side drops down but it's inoperable but the drop down menu for Google Translate works flawlessly. It's installed on the Bedford template (7.0). Please help!
I used the following code and the Google Translator works just fine. But it causes the navigation menu to stop working. The menus appears, but clicking on any menu item does nothing. I've search this forum and the entire Internet and have not found a solution.
@tuanphan Hi Tuanphan, I realize this question was answered some time ago, but I was wondering what to do in a situation where my header nav covers up the translate div while it's in a fixed position. I can add margin to it w/ CSS but since it's in a fixed state, the header nav's additional margin is including on scroll so that there's a gap between the header nav and top of the browser window.

I'm trying to get this working in my header on Squarespace 7.1 - I'd like to replace the social media icons with the Google Translate thing. Currently I have the code injection in Settings >Advanced > Code Injection > Header and then the CSS in Design > Custom CSS
I'm having a similar issue: I can apply the translation dropdown and it does work, but it fluctuates with the navigation bar or falls behind it. On desktop with an announcement banner, it falls behind the bar. With a bar or without look equally terrible on mobile. I'd like to place the translation function above the navigation bar and/or the announcement bar, I just can't get it to stay put.

Google Translate has a developer tool that will enable google translate on a website. Is there a way to tell Google Translate to not translate a section of the website? Perhaps with a class name on an HTML element?
According to Google instructions, setting class="notranslate" prevents Google translation. This appears to work, though using it inline (e.g., for a single word) may imply some confusion, so you need to check out what happens.

My site used the word "Handicaps". Google wanted to do a French to English translation, suggesting "Handicaps" be changed to "Disabilities". Dropping "Handicaps" for "Player Handicap" solved my issue.
unless anyone is willing to put energy into this, our solution could be to implement an information-page which describes in different languages how to use deepL with our/a website from the enduser/visitor perspective.

Trying to implement just a a href link to translate it with dynamic parameters. The problem that I am facing (on all website that I made with hugo), when I put it through, the site is not loading Style CSS and all look ugly.
