Why are you being so judgemental about someone's need to not only use texting/MMS/SMS for very long, involved, multi-person messages? If it is an important topic, something that they either need to document or record for future use or even to take a walk down memory lane, OMG, is that a violation of your code
I don't think there is any quick way. Apple has some odd quirks for Mark All or Select All. In my opinion, they should have it all across the board for text messages and emails, but somehow it doesn't exist for text messages.
You can free up iCloud space when you delete email messages from your iCloud email account. You can also move email messages from your iPhone or iPad to your Mac or PC, where they no longer count against your iCloud storage.
You can use the Messages app to send text messages, images, and much more. You can reply within a conversation or to specific comments in a thread. You can even use Siri to listen and respond to your messages.
You might also want to consider an application such as PhoneView (Mac) or TouchCopy (Mac or Windows). They allow you to archive your messages to either a PDF or text file, both of which are easily searchable. Also, your conversation is then archived in a format that doesn't require an iPhone to read.
Are you getting a ton of spam text messages? How annoying is it to be interrupted with a notification on your iPhone, only for it to be yet another junk message? These messages, much like phishing emails, are often the starting point for scammers targeting potential victims.
Now, if you go into your messages app, you'll see tabs at the top of the screen. On the left will be "Contacts & SMS" which will contain messages from known contacts in your address book. On the right will be the new "Unknown Senders" tab.
When you get a message from a sender not in your address book, you won't get a notification. Instead, it will be dropped into the "Unknown senders" tab. To find this, open your messages and you should see "Filters" at the top left corner of your screen. When you go into filters, you can filter by known and unknown senders, as well as unread messages.
Warning: Once "Filter Unknown Senders" is enabled, it becomes very important to add all legitimate senders to your address book. Any message from a number not in your contact list will go to the Unknown Senders tab. If you're expecting a text from someone you know, be sure to enter them into your address book. Otherwise, you'll have to scan this list to see if there's anything new you need to pay attention to.
Related warning: Gig workers from services like Door Dash, Uber Eats, and InstaCart often use rotating custom text message numbers to reach out to customers during the shopping or pickup process. If you're expecting a delivery from one of these services, be sure to check your Unknown Senders tab during the delivery window.
This need for added diligence in certain cases is probably why the feature is turned off by default. For new iOS users with an empty contacts app, all messages will necessarily be from contacts not in the address book. That said, this is such a huge benefit it's worth a little extra diligence to add contacts you want to be able to get text notifications from.
Some phone companies started to flag the incoming call as "Spam caller" or "Scam Likely", making it easier for individual users to decline calls and block numbers. People blocking incoming calls from unknown numbers has made the scammers switch to other avenues, which is in part why spam text messages are at an all-time high.
I'm sorry, I followed this link but couldn't find the app. I also needed to print my iPhone text conversations for some legal issue and this is what my lawyer had suggested about presenting text messages as legal evidence:
I finally printed my iPhone text messages/iMessages using the app mentioned in this tutorial about printing iPhone text messages. First, I transferred my text messages to my computer as PDF file and then printed them on a A4 sheet. Hope it helps!
Hi, I realize you aren't a lawyer, but could you elaborate on the affidavit that provides legitimacy to the printed out text messages? How did you get the affidavit? Thanks! Going through the same thing and trying to keep lawyer costs to a minimum. Appreciate your help!
One additional option if you want to save the text messages to your computer and print them out for court or any other purposes, is to give Decipher Text Message a try. The software lets you archive your iMessages & sms messages and also print them.
The link in Seabrighttte's post is NOT to Decipher TextMessage despite the text claiming it is. I'm the lead developer for Decipher TextMessage, and the author of the blog post linked in another person's post about documenting text messages for court. I'm not sure if the different link was intentional or not, but I just wanted to make it clear that it is an incorrect link and not our software.
It's usually frowned on by the moderators to post promotional links, which is why I didn't put a link in my response before ? Here's a blog post we wrote specifically about printing text messages for court which offers a few different solutions, including Decipher TextMessage.

Has anyone felt like messaging slows down the quick actions the Apple Watch was meant to have? There isn't a delete all function, nor is there a function that creates continuity between your phone and watch when you delete messages. I would like for them to be erased from all of my devices when I delete from either SOURCE. Instead I get the exhausted arm holding it up for ten minutes deleting messages . At least make this optional!!!!!
I filed an ER early 2.0 beta days regarding how tedious it was/is to maintain messages on the Watch. It was almost immediately declined. I don't understand why it's so easy to delete a mail message, but such a challenge to delete a text/iMessage.
